I thought this screenshot was a known fake

[–] jaywalker@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That, or OP has a virus. Maybe one that prevented the print screen button from working.

[–] Virkkunen@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

OP posted this same fake image a month ago on another instance and their goal was simply reply to comments with a "trans" soyjak hanging their selves.

[–] defiantemperte@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

Correction: it's a hanging troonjak with microsoft logo

[–] ipha@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Yeah it's fake and who watches xvid encodes anyway?

[–] induna_crewneck@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Didn't even know avi is still used. Haven't seen one in ages

[–] war@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Gatekeeping video codecs, that's some next-level neckbeardery right there.

Gatekeeping

How is it gatekeeping to call out a codec that (rightfully so) isn't being used anymore?

[–] iAmTheTot@kbin.social 26 points 1 year ago

why is no one talking about it?

Because it's not fucking real.

Time to switch to a true operating system.

Source for picture? I thought pluton wasn't widely rolled out yet and was still experimental.

edit: apparently after looking around its fake so the guy can post unrelated soyjak pictures

[–] Virkkunen@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

You've posted the exact same post, same picture and title, on another instance. Smells like bot to me.

[–] DarkThoughts@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

How does that make him a bot? lmao

[–] renzev@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

"bot" doesn't necessarily mean a literal computer program, people can be bots too. Same idea behind using "NPC" as an insult

[–] Screwthehole@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (3 children)

So how do you get around it? If the only answer is keep running my windows 7 machine or install Linux, I'm going to be disappointed

[–] HeartyBeast@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago

Fake, apparently

[–] zkfcfbzr@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

From the other comments I gather this is fake, but I've had similar dialogues presented to me for running untrusted .exe files. The "More info" link gives you the option to run anyways.

[–] Juviz@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago

TBF, that’s a different story there. Firefox does the same with unsecured connections. That warning is basically there for all the non IT people who have bonuses what a signature is and run any .candycrush.exe file they see

[–] AnonTwo@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

If I recall, it was just an edit of the smartscreen message, which has an option to continue using the software.

This definitely isn't recent, because this same picture popped up on reddit months ago.

[–] MyOtherCarIsEpona@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Please drink a verification can to continue.

[–] Holodeck_Moriarty@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I want to be admin on my own machine.

[–] theodewere@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

there's always the sledgehammer protocol.. i don't think they can prevent that yet..

[–] EmperorHenry@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Okay I just looked and this might be fake...There's ways to disable the "smart"screen filter with the group policy editor and also regedit. If you don't have windows pro, get "policy plus", it's a project on github. It's a substitute for any system that doesn't have gpedit(dot)msc

Again...This picture is probably fake, but there's a chance that it could become real.
