They would enjoy the fuck out of the second vision. It would give them an opportunity to be smug about something AND watch minorities suffer.
The narcissistic savior complex + I-told-you-so dynamic
A liberal power fantasy
The thing is, they do not want to be the savior in that scenario, they want to gloat about marginalized people becoming martyrs. The suffering is the point. It is also why it wasn't an oversight from them to not protect Roe, to not protect trans rights, to not make sure that they aren't coming for gay and interracial marriage next: When you have nothing to offer but being the lesser evil, this means that the greater evil must remain a serious threat.
This is the perfect summary of their lesser evil nonsense. I'd like to add: they hate the minorities just as much as the conservatives they attack. They really feel we need to be thankful for their "help and sacrifices" when they do less than nothing.
I'm still shocked Biden's "you ain't black" comment isn't brought up in their circles anymore.
Liberals do so love having their cake and eating it too, especially for brunch
