Sound blaster compatible, irq5, dma1

The magic config to make sound work in DOS games

[โ€“] frunch@lemmy.world 7 points 8 months ago

Sound blaster was the shit ๐Ÿ™Œ

Always wanted to try AdLib too...one of those options that a lot of games supported but i don't think i ever knew anyone with one of those sound cards

Load hi mem to get that extra 384k of memory. Load your sound driver in your .SYS file.

Not always. The IRQ and DMA could be different.

I mean, it usually wasn't, but it was possible.

If it was different, I just played with no sound. 6 year old me hadn't actually grasped how expansion cards for x86 microcontrollers were implemented

I don't know how they expected anyone to keep track of that stuff who didn't hold a bachelor's in computer science.
