I was so disappointed to find out there weren't an intelligent race of aliens. Bethesda puts all kinds of crazy shit in their games. I expected talking aliens.
The game is literally about finding out if we’re not alone on the universe. They’ve been very up front about that. Why everyone came in expecting fucking Mass Effect Part Four I don’t know.

well guess what, turns out we are alone in the universe in the game’s universe, since the mysterious race of higher beings that are eluded to during the whole game are just humans 🤯
So what part of that says to you "there will definitely not be other intelligent life"?
Yeah right? That's the most boring answer they could have to "are we alone?"... just.. "Yep"
This is why mass effect is a way better space game it feels lived in with incredible lore while starfeild literally is fallout in space without any cool art direction or style to it.
Literally got Game Pass for Starfield. Got hella bored and immediately downloaded Mass Effect.
Best decision of my life. Night and day between those two games. You hit the nail on the head.

That's essentially the biggest problem of the game (not even aliens particularly). It's not that the worlds are empty of stuff, it's that it's empty of people of any type. It's an rpg, but the whole time you're just going through empty nothing and running into the same raiders. There's no life to the universe, it's just reskinned fallout but somehow worse.
Hearing there was no environmental storytelling made me lose the last of any interest I had in it. The lived in feeling of their worlds is my favorite thing about Bethesda.
You think that's the worst part?
Nah, just one of the many disappointing aspects of the game. One that just felt "not Bethesda-y"
There were even aliens in Fallout lol. But space? Nah.
