Gaming underwent a lot of changes over the last two decades, to say the least. Does every other new title need to be an open world? Or necessarily have to integrate some sort of always-online multiplayer elements (Soulsborne comes to mind)? What would a fresh and new 'Metroid Prime' have to be like to you, in this day and age?

It doesn’t need innovation I just want more Metroid prime. No need to add useless modern crap that nobody wants.

I agree. Personally, though, the game that most gave me Metroid Prime vibes (besides the mainline titles) was Subnautica. That made me think how and if Metroid itself should or will take some sort of inspiration from that.

I had the same feeling during Below Zero. Specifically:

  • The feelings of loneliness
  • Unlocking blueprints to upgrade equipment and movement capabilities
  • Exploring an alien world with abandoned research facilities (both recent and ancient)
