2 come to mind:
Starcraft: Ghost - an FPS/stealth game a la Splinter Cell but set in the Starcraft universe? Sign me up.
The Fable 1 that was promised vs what we got. Fable 1 was brilliant and I played the hell out of it, but peter molyneux made some VERY ambitious promises that could not be delivered on with the technology available at the time.
Just getting a copy of Official Xbox magazine and seeing the first story about Fable 1 and how ALL of your choices would reflect in the game world - plant an acorn and watch it grow into an oak tree, wipe out a town and see it slip into disrepair and be reclaimed by nature - seemed so unreal and I was so excited.
Damn you, Lionhead.
Whaaaaaat? That's not the Peter Molyneux I know... /s
Fable 1 aka Project Ego. That was one of the reasons I went with an Xbox over PS2. Like you said, still a great game but far reduced from what was initially promised
Exactly the same reason I got an Xbox too, enjoyed Halo more than I ended up enjoying Fable when it eventually came out.
Didn't expect Ghost to be mentioned so many times in this thread.
Still pissed at Molyneux for selling snake oil to a twelve year old me. I would have given my soul for the promised Fable. Seriously F Molyneux lol
This one still hurts me.
Project Ego is nothing close to what we were sold.
