Cute attempt at an analogy. Mind if I try?

"You can't argue with a crazy murderer. So let's try to convince the people standing in front of his house with knives to turn them against him instead of driving them into their own chests while he watches."

Inaction is a choice. You're not a victim when your choices lead to your own suffering. The only victims are the ones who saw what was coming and tried to do whatever they could to stop it. Everybody else got what they chose.
