Malaysia, Taiwan, Philippines, all those US territories ๐
and all of them making all those incursions into "china's historical waters". sure thing
The Philippines was a relatively recent US colony (1899 to 1946), and has been ruled/fucked by US backed and US boot licking governments (like the Marcos).
Are we allowed to talk about Hong Kong independence here without worrying about getting disappeared?
That was a minority in Hong Kong, the majority is pro China. Said minority got suspiciously silent as soon as foreign funding had to be registered... Not that they made a secret out of their foreign connections, with western politicians visiting them, them having public meeting with US embassy personell, their leaders speaking in US congress. One had to be delusional to believe the HK rioters were an organic thing.
And you never were disappeared for it, you got laughed out of the room.
You're free to talk about color revolutions and be disingenuous about discussion here if you like. I'll give you bonus points in that you're the first drive-through liberal that actually took the time to stop and order.
What would you like to talk about on the menu? Hong Kong? What was originally a Chinese territory heavily exploited for over a century by British capitalists and forced to be GIVEN to the British under contract of duress? It's funny you bring up this train of thought, because I'm curious on what the justification is.
Is it that they deserve autonomy? Well, why doesn't the eastern regions in Ukraine deserve autonomy? Because they're sponsored by Russia? Is Hong Kong not sponsored by the West? Do you not see this double-think? There is nuance here; more than just "taking sides" and a hell of lot more completely obscured by propaganda that has been spinning since the Cold War.
Or is it because of geopolitical legalese and global law dominated by a Western hegemony? What are your thoughts?
https://lemmygrad.ml/post/1153 Some great things here; complete with resources talking about Hong Kong and other well-woven mythos about the super duper evil China that you've been led to believe.
I left a very genuine comment asking how a government can reconcile it's declared peaceful policies with it's very non peaceful aggression toward its neighbors it what is tantamount to a colonialist territory grab in the south china sea, but that got deleted, so I can only assume this community's entire purpose is circle jerking.
Weird, I didn't know the US was China's neighbor. I must be too busy circlejerking to recognize that all land on earth belongs to white people, and "colonialism" is when the dirty orientals try to live on it without paying rent.
No, no, I was asking a genuine comment on why China can't just submit to white western overlords and bow to their will! Come on guys, China can't fight back...that's colonialism!

Using this same set of logic, how can the governments surrounding China claim to be peaceful while hosting countless military bases surrounding the nation and each one of those governments having a history of either global hegemony (Phillipines being historically a U.S colony) or are DIRECT FASCISTS like the KMT in Taiwan.
Then again, if we're speaking in genuine comments, I guess the people in those countries that was reconciliation with China are just Wumao Tankies that hate democracy and circle-jerk. Right? In the end, at least the community has a purpose.
Of course China isn't gonna be friendly with Taiwan. If the Confederacy existed to this day, do you think the Union would be friendly to them? Once again, misplaced double-think. None of your comments have been "genuine". They are loaded with rhetoric and a vile sense of righteousness from a Western perspective.
Independence from British imperialism and being a British/Amerikkkan colonial outpost, you mean.
Do you mean HK being decolonized from the brits? Or do you mean the more recent failed US-backed color revolution attempt to re-capture HK as a puppet state?
Why the fuck does the US have historic territories there again???
One of the three you listed is not like the others, and that is Taiwan. Taiwan is a territory of the People's Republic of China. This is a warning to anyone who claims otherwise, I will put it in the community banner as a rule in case some uninformed person says something like this again.
That's fair, wouldn't want anyone here to be black bagged by their peaceful government for supporting the continued independence of the nation of Taiwan.
Not even "Taiwan" claims to be independent...
Also it does not call itself "Taiwan". It calls itself Republic of China.
And no one is blackbagged for that, don't mistake western fanfictions for reality.
You obviously do not know anything about the matter. Please stop embarrassing yourself further by mistaking Reddit for reality.
Don't worry, the heckin good occupation government of Taiwan might do that for you. Especially if you are anti-capitalist or offend the wrong officer.

If you're going to be "disappeared" for stating lies and false equivalences like a spineless coward in the defense of a raicst and fascist neoliberal global order, you probably deserve it.
Most people in Taiwan want the status quo continuation, which does not require American involvement. That status quo is also beneficial to both Taiwan and China, so there is no need for China to do anything like invade.
You believe in a fantasy where you think China is acting in a manner without consideration for American aggression. In other words you don't know what you're talking about.
I don't recall the US historically being present in southeast asia...
"Taiwan" is literally a part of China. Malaysia and China have no beef regarding their territorial dispute. The Philippines ramp up outstanding territorial disputes for politcal reasons.
Buddy, all the countries in the region have overlapping claims there. It is not China coming in and claiming it all for the lulz.
What I refered to are the "freedom of navigation" actions (hilarious, because the US never signed the corresponding treaty - meaning it actually does not have the right to do that) of warships through chinese trade routes.
US: "Nice trade routes you have there, would be a pitty if someone blockaded them..."
China: pulls shotgun from below the counter "Fuck. Off."
US: "WHAAAAAAA, China is evil!1111" funds terrorists
