I read that alot of Brezhnev's policies were a return of capitalist elements, such as allowing economic enterprises to "fail" if they were unprofitable and making housing more market-like.

In a vacuum, I don't like these policies, but maybe they make more sense in context, I'm not sure. I know some limited reforms in the housing market were helpful.

While not a world ending scenario, it's incredibly uncomfortable to have a president that knowingly hates my people for having the wrong skin color and would be perfectly okay with genociding us.

I remember that, too. Though unfortunately, I've read he is still a member or associate of the CPC. I don't know if that is true or not, but at least the party pulled the leash.

I was honestly very worried that the gusanos and papists would have prevented the passing of this family code. I doomscrolled on Twitter and saw a surprising number of anti-communist Cubans, CIA cutouts and reich-wing fascist rejects either refusing to vote or admitting to voting no or advocating for regime change, but this warms my heart.
