Hello, I'm not USian, but I would still like to take credit for making your libs heads explode. Who should I speak to?

Hillary is the only one who can summon the ghost of Kissinger.

Biden has always been against abortion, social security and all semblance of state welfare programs, so nothing new there.

I do support the porn and video game ban, though as part of a larger grass-touching program. Any accelerationism that comes out of that is a bonus. ; )

I'm sure if you asked every liberal in California, face to face, if they would be in favor of ending slavery by checking a box, 99.9% of them would tell you 'yes, of course, it's the very least I could do'. But the mask comes off at home in front of an anonymous paper ballot.

Anyone focused on "defeating trump" smells like a stupid lib with zero marxist analysys. I had never heard of PSL until quite recently (and I follow US politics closely) but they keep making me dislike and distrust them.

Creeping? It's been deeply entrenched for at least 80-something years.

The worst part was what he followed that up with

The people who criticize Israel are essentially saying, ‘Yeah, but look how many people you’ve killed in retaliation, how many is enough for you to kill to punish them for the terrible things they did?' That all sounds nice until you realize what you would do if it was your family and you hadn’t done anything but support a homeland for the Palestinians, and one day they come for you and slaughter the people in your village.

Yeah. Sure. The genocidal settlers living on stolen land, in stolen houses, haven't done anything but support Palestinians.

The US political system is designed to swing back and forth between two right-wing parties. It would be less successful at dividing people and keeping out opposing ideas if only one party won all the time, and they know it.

The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum - even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there's free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate."

I'm sorry, I could have been more concise. I didn't mean for that comment to come across as an accusation toward you. I think we're all pretty fried watching this endless fascist nightmare, and I'll admit being pretty sensitive about anything that looks like apologia toward this shit, too. It can take some real patience and mental discipline sometimes ; )

Just pointing out that the titles have changed, but the roles haven’t

I don't want to quote paragraphs here, but read chapter 1 which gives a pretty simple intro to that analysis.

But I guess I just wonder how we get from where we are, to the global awakening

For me to answer that would mean poorly paraphrasing the sources I listed. The scientific analysis of this question has been done, and the historical examples we can learn from have been written. Both are fascinating and engaging once we get over the hurdles of our societal conditioning. Historical truth seen in contrast to the western narrative is radicalizing. I recommend going through that material and seeing what questions you have afterward.

I know that sounds like a brushoff; it isn't. Our shared understanding of the scientific analysis of the problem really is how we crack the nut of class consciousness. We have to coherently understand the problem to effectively communicate it and wake up others, and the success of that process is borne out by history. Without class consciousness we will never cohere to fight our class struggle. We all awaken in this system as individuals; you, me, all of us. The capitalist system will show us its contradictions, the existing ML analysis gives us a framework for understanding and communicating those contradictions.

I’d also say that where you’re putting “the US did something” I’d say the global oligarchy did it using the US military machine

I hope I don't sound condescending, but learn the history of the empire and imperialism. It's an endless bloody nightmare in the intentional blindspot of US history. Americans realizing they've been lied to about pretty much everything is part of the fun.

I read Project 2025 as both a scare tactic and continuation of existing policy. If so, then yeah, it only exists in the media as a whip to get voters to show up for them. There was no material policy opposition.

Yeah, I understand this post is not reflective of your own views. I'm just pointing out that fascist rhetoric starts our pretty cagey, or by being edgy as a way of testing the water before jumping in. I read through some of those comments and this really isn't satire, the resentment, anger and blame is authentic. It's thinly veiled racism, at best.

The proposal for “automatic” draft registration is among several previously-undisclosed provisions related to Selective Service in the newly-release version of the National Defense [sic] Authorization Act (NDAA)

a spokesperson for the SASC told me that if “automatic” Selective Service registration had been included in the bill, it would have been included in the summary. That proves to have been incorrect: The proposal for “automatic” draft registration was included in the SASC version of the bill, but not in the summary.

What’s a near-certainty is that this “must-pass” bill will be enacted into law, in some form, later this year – probably by a lame-duck Congress after the elections

Politically, registration and other preparation for a draft, by whatever means, makes war more more likely and enables military strategists to plan and commit to larger, longer, less popular wars without having to think about whether enough people will be willing to fight them.

The Associated Press reported on Tuesday that the pier the US military built off the coast of Gaza will be reattached to the shore on Wednesday and then permanently removed after a few days.

Aid groups have criticized the pier as a public relations stunt to make it appear that the US was doing something to get more aid into Gaza while continuing to support the Israeli military’s genocidal war and starvation blockade.

The pier was removed from the coast several times due to weather that it could not handle.

Aid delivered through the pier also couldn’t be delivered due to the security situation for aid groups

[...] in the Nuiserat massacre. Video that surfaced online showed an Israeli military helicopter operating near the pier during the operation, and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said some of the Israeli troops who carried out the raid arrived in an aid truck.
