As a non realistic version, have you played timber born? It's about beavers making dams and towns, but very much not realistic.

It's a very dumb joke , making fun of a dumb tv show call the good doctor. The writers decided to write a show about a young autistic surgeon, and also decided that his only personality trait would be being a surgeon. There is a scene where he is fired, has a mental breakdown and keeps yelling " I am a surgeon".

Mostly a dumb joke, making fun of writers who wrote the main character of a show based solely of one idea, with no character at all.

There are not two sides, they are the same one side. Not super clear from the picture, but there is a twist that connects the "front" of one side to the "back" of the other .

I think it's stupider than that. They have no idea how a handmade gun could be built without a 3d printer. They probably have zero clue what a 3d printer actually can and cannot do, and I'd bet most politicians have never seen one or bothered to understand it before regulating it. Their sole exposure is a few loud people who also do not understand anything about guns or 3d printers, and confuse that lack of understanding with definitive proof that it is evil and should be banned.

Two points. You are incorrectly using the term nazi to mean evil. That is not what the word means. What would you call evil before the 1900s? I will not disagree that Israel is in someways evil, but nazi is not the word used in English for evil, as you are using it.

Secondly, I grew up and lived in Gaza. It is not a concentration camp, or an extermination center. It is a warzone. It is groups of people fighting over their territory.

We probably roughly agree on what facistm is, and that both the Nazis and Israel are fascist. However, the word for a fascist authority is not nazi. It is fascist authority. Do you understand that yet? It is like calling all apples granny smith, and then getting aggressive when someone tells you to call them apples, and that some apples are not granny smith apples, despite all apples having some similar properties to granny smith apples.

I cannot speak for them, but it is very different to not want a foreigner who is not from your religion to date a Muslim, than it is to want to kill all Jews. Of course, it is very bad to take it to the level of a beating, or to make that choice for someone else, and what they did is bad. What I often see is a few zelots in a groups of people who don't care for Jews, but don't want to kill them. It is very difficult to stand for a stranger who is outside your culture, and defend them, without being labeled as an enemy of your own culture. My father was clear to us that Jews were not evil because they are Jews, just as Muslims are not all good because of their religion. He was friends with a small family of Jews living in Gaza near us. I do not think he would want me to date them, but he was happy that we could be friends.

I know I have celebrated when Israel suffers a defeat, but not the death of regular Jews, or Israeli civilians.

Yes, if you discuss complex things with the depth of understanding of a six year old, call everything evil a Nazi, and don't understand that the world is not made up of pure , good people and Nazis, I bet you get to fill out a lot of imaginary bingo cards , since those get to work by your made up rules. The real world does not.

You do know that people being evil or fascist predated the Nazis, often has different motivationions than the Nazis, and are sometimes done by people who have huge disagreements with Nazis right? Many of them predate the nazis, are unaffiliated with them, and were persucuted by them. Your argument is literally that everyone bad is a Nazi. Re read your response if you think I am not representing you fairly, because that is exactly what you say. By no means am I giving Israel or anyone else a pass for being evil. I am also not giving nazis a free las for being evil. I think to understand why Israel is evil, what exactly are doing, and how the world should deal with them, you need to understand some very basic things they are not.

They are not dragons, despite them killing others in order to enrich themselves. They are not UFOs, despite flying around in secret missions and kidnapping people. They are not Nazis, despite being fascist and trying to rid their land of non jews. Just because nazis are bad, and Israel is bad, does not mean they are the same thing. People act evil for many different reasons, some of which are similar to each other. Israel is not as similar to nazis as your over simplified troll logic would like them to be.

Yes, of course. If the two most powerful groups in your area are both acting like terrorist organizations, and one wants to kill you, and the other want to kill them, few people are going to dare to question Hamas. Hamas does nothing to help us, and nothing to better owr lives.

[–] sparky_gnome@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Hamas is far more anti Israel than pro Gaza. Yes, Israel is anti Gaza, but Hamas does not represent what we want, or the waymost of us in Gaza want Israel or Jews to be treated. They are not freedom fighters, they are terrorists who have the same enemy as us.

I recently moved to the USA, from the middle east. My English is pretty good, and I don't have a lot of trouble communicating with people at work or in stores. I also don't know anyone here at all, outside of work. All my family is still back in Gaza, and I've been here over a year now, and still feel cut off from American people and culture.

How do you make friends and socialize here? How do I learn more about America and Americans culture? I know a bit about history, but not much about anything else.
I don't drink or go to bars, for religious reasons. I have joined a couple of clubs based on hobbies, but still feel disconnected. I'm not sure how you socialize or meet new people here, in my family everyone came around your house all the times of the day, and here it seems like neighbors just stick to themselves. I don't want to bug people or anoy them if that is not the customs here.

Also, what are your favorite parts of American culture and history? So far I have enjoyed Nascar and monster trucks very much, and studying mathematics.
