This started happening with another community. After looking there is an open issue on GitHub. Looks like it is impacting smaller servers more than larger ones?

Sadly, it's not fixed it. Although I've noticed it's community specific...

I think I got rate limited when I used a python script to migrate my subscriptions (some 503 errors) but most of them came through. My new account still gets this post from a year ago (https://feddit.uk/post/321952) as my 4th hot post. Along with a number of 1 year+ old posts below. However, after looking into it looks like they are all from Programmer Humor@lemmy.ml. Going back to my original account, which has my full subscriptions, again they seem to be from some specific communities:

ADHD memes@lemmy.dbzer0.com
Programmer Humor@lemmy.ml
Gaming@kbin.social
Gaming@lemmy.ml
CasualUK@kbin.social
Cathode Ray Tubes@kbin.social

I'm going to unsubcribe from these for the time being, and see how I get on.

Stranger and stranger... these are my "hots". They start off okay, and then quickly they are a year+ old. Happens on all clients. I'm probably going to create a new username/account and see if it's the same. Maybe something has got stale with this one. Besides, I don't like my username anymore! :)

@tom@feddit.uk Hey Tom. This issue is persisting for me. I get the odd post that I would consider hot, but in general the posts are days, weeks or in a couple of cases YEARS old! I have accounts on two other instances with similar subscriptions to those I have here:

lemmy.world doesn't have this issue (although it has many other issues and is generally unusable, I think due to load). They are on UI: 0.18.1-rc.7

programming.dev is also on BE: 0.18.0 and seems fine. No issues with hot posts. They have about twice the number of users/posts as feddit.uk.

Only read posts. I don't want to necessarily hide read posts. If it's interesting I want to keep coming back to it. Also if it's a junk, offensive, triggering, spammy repost I don't want to have to "read" it to make it go away.

94 and 95. Foo Fighters in the tent for their second UK gig was... an experience. Rammed. Boiling. People climbing up the poles for a better view. Dave Grohl appealing for calm. Spraying water over the crown to keep everyone cool. Mad. But brilliant.

Indeed. And that's not even taking account those discs are much harder to get a hold of and/or more expensive than the Gameboy Player itself!

I went to that particular shop every other week for a year and that was all I saw there before or since. If you have the time and can be bothered you might get lucky. But honestly, it's a total chore! In terms of opportunity cost it's probably cheaper to buy from eBay or CEX!

I've just been sorting out my PS1 collection. This was my best haul, just before the pandemic. £1.99 each from a charity shop (our equivalent of goodwill or thrift stores in the UK).

Oh absolutely! That's the killer app for the Gameboy Player IMHO. Properly felt like a return to the SNES days of 2D platforming, but with improved tech and quality of life. Love it.

Lol. I've only been following this from a distance because I don't have any real interest in Birdsite anymore, but hadn't appreciated that they themselves may have caused the increase in API requests that cause them to introduce rate limits. That's hilarious.

I have an account on feddit.uk and lemmy.world with almost identical subscriptions.

When I visit the feddit.uk homepage and look at posts from my subscriptions sorted by "hot", the two posts immediately after the two pinned Feddit UK posts at the top are 6 days old. The behaviour with "active" is similar. Posts shown are quite old, and neither hot nor active.

When I visit the lemmy.world homepage and look at the "hot" posts from my subscriptions, the first 10 are all with the last couple of hours. Active shows posts in the last 24 hours with a healthly number of comments.

Both servers are running 0.17.4

Basically, right now feddit.uk is almost unusable for me due to both hot and active being populated by stale posts. I need to search by "new" to get anything approaching useful - but when I do that there is just too much to sift through.

Not sure I remember this one from the highway code. Beware of person peeking though letterbox?

I've been trying to join nintendoswitch@kbin.social for a few days. Going to https://feddit.uk/c/nintendoswitch@kbin.social gives me a 404. Using the same URL on a couple other Lemmy instances (eg lemmy.world) seems to work. Is there an issue preventing new communities/magazines from federating properly to feddit.uk?

Tapeworm Disco Puzzle for the NES by Lowtek Games. Got this at Play Expo today in Glasgow, Scotland.

My espresso based mid-morning beverage of choice is a long black. Which I make with 80g of water topped off with a 36g shot of espresso. I think most people tend to use a bit more water, but I find this ratio a nice balance. My mind and body can only cope with two coffees a day, so I like to second and last one to be something I can savour!

TV Tuesday? (self.ukcasual)

Are we doing a TV Tuesday? We've just finished watching Annika. It was sort of refreshing to watch a "murder of the week" style show again. The best part of the show was obviously Nicola Walker, but also and Silvie Furneaux as her daughter Morgan. As a listener to the Doctor Who audios, Nicola's scenes and obvious chemistry with Paul McGann was a high point too.

Anyway, we've finished that last night so looking for recommendations!

Hardly Instagram worthy, but here is my properly humble espresso this morning. Brewed on my used Gaggia New Baby, and ground with a Kingrinder K4. It's the Trigonometry Blend from my local Artisan Roast here in Edinburgh. Not normally a fan of this blend but it was this month's subscription choice for espresso, and today it was perfect 🤌
