The (now unpopular opinion):

Playing Metal Gear Solid 2 and seeing Raiden.

Killed the experience for me when it first came out.

Tears of the Kingdom. I didn’t think BotW was anything more than game of the year (not even the best Zelda game) but the follow up just felt a lot better
