Make your default ringtone silence with no vibration. Add specific ring tones to those contacts you want to talk with. Let your voicemail sort out the calls to ignore or answer.

The iPhone 14 plus pairs perfectly to my Bluetooth hearing aids. With the app Jango Radio, I can enjoy hours of free music when at events I am not interested in watch but must attend as a good grandpa.

I kept the box in case I need to ship it while still under warranty. To make it easy to find again, I put it into the box my Commodore 64 came in right next to the Nokia boxes.

I use a dedicated digital Olympus camera when taking pictures so the phone camera is ignored. My old lens from my film camera days fit the OM10. The RAM and storage were the deciding factors when picking my first Apple toy. I regret getting the iPhone 14 plus as it was too much money for my uses, but it does promise a long life. The design means nothing as I always put a thick protective case on the phones I carry. I have no vanity about what phone I am seen carrying. As a phone, I will use it until the phone fails, Verizon no longer supports it, or I die.

I took a picture with my hand covering the lens. That black photo is my perfect wallpaper. All icons are clearly seen.

The pretty titanium case is a nonissue to me as the Apple phones are very slippery and all that glass looks fragile. So my phones always have protective cases that hide to design.

I got the iPhone 14 plus in March. There was no charger in the box,The higher powered charging block cost me $18 dollars. An extra lighting car charger cost another $20. The 15 uses a standard USB C, which is the best feature so far. Being so slick and slippery, I bought a protective case as all the glass looked fragile. With a case, nobody will know the make and model of my phone so design was not a factor.

I made that change last March. It was very useful that I kept my Samsung on WiFi. Have the store salesperson teach you how to turn the iPhone on and off. It was not intuitive! I kept my contacts and calendar on my Samsung as they were incomplete when transferred by Verizon and double entered. It was easier to just delete them all and leave them off. Make sure you have a powerful enough power block to charge your iPhone as my old Samsungs were to weak at 5 when the iPhone does best at 30. The iPhone had no instructions so Google was my friend for the set up with more than double the memory, I though I would have plenty of storage but the Apple apps are bigger than the same apps from the Google store. Apple’s Siri is just as bad as Samsung’s Bixby. I ignore both voice command systems on either phone and disabled much of both. They are part of the operating systems so they can’t be safely removed. The iPhone was very slick and slippery and that glass looked fragile so I bought an over sized protective foam silicone case to protect it. With the case, the iPhone won’t fit in my pocket, but is fine in my zippered shoulder or hip bag. It would be too easy to have it slip out of a coat pocket onto the parking lot getting in or out of a vehicle.

I bought the iPhone 14 plus and iPad 10 out of curiosity. Compared to the android devices they replaced? The Apple devices were not intuitive and had no instructions for starting. A trip to the store where I bought them and the salesperson showed me how to start and stop the devices, sold me a power block Apple didn’t include, and them Chrome searches on my old Android device helped me set up what I actually use. I’m sure there are features and abilities on the Apple toys that I will never know about or use. The iPhone and iPad are very smooth and slippery glass so a bulky protective case hide anything design wise. My iPad never leaves the house so it didn’t need Apple Care. My 2017 Samsung tablet is working fine, so I take care of my toys.
