I have a iPhone 12 ProMax and the battery is still great. Had it for about three years and this month I’ll finally pay it off. 🥹

I could easily use it another year. I’ve never had any hardware issues either or had to factory reset it.

Depends on the price

iPhone 13 Pro/Max is better. It has A15 chip, 120Hz screen. The difference between A15 and A16 is small, iPhone 13 Pro also supports portrait focus change. The only thing is the 3X telephoto camera is not great in low light condition.

I'm currently using a Samsung s22 ultra but don't have the money to go buy one out right so could trade it for one or keep my s22 ultra or get a pixel 7 Pro

My wife got my 12 pro max and it works perfectly fine, good speeds, no load times between fast app switching / menu / camera whatever. I wouldn’t see why not 👍🏼

I’ve got one now and don’t regret it don’t feel old it’s really nice to be fair

[–] salloumk@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I'd invest a bit more and go for a 13PM. Much better phone.

[–] PKMNTrainerEevs@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Ehh, I’d rather go with a 13PM but your call

[–] TypicalJeepDriver@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Depends on your price range. My 12 Pro works just fine except the battery is getting to the point where I think I might replace it.

Normally I upgrade every year to the model two years old. If I can find a cheap enough 13 Pro ($325) I’ll buy it and sell my 12 Pro for $275 and just upgrade for half the cost of a battery replacement.

[–] Cherrymoon20@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Only if you can get it for real cheap and battery health is at least 85%.

No, I just got rid of my 12 after having it since launch and it was getting laggy as hell.

I use a dedicated digital Olympus camera when taking pictures so the phone camera is ignored. My old lens from my film camera days fit the OM10. The RAM and storage were the deciding factors when picking my first Apple toy. I regret getting the iPhone 14 plus as it was too much money for my uses, but it does promise a long life. The design means nothing as I always put a thick protective case on the phones I carry. I have no vanity about what phone I am seen carrying. As a phone, I will use it until the phone fails, Verizon no longer supports it, or I die.

this is completely irrelevant. you just wanted to talk about your situation instead?

[–] Interesting-Buy-5951@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I wouldn’t go older than a 13 Pro for that sweet 120Hz display.

[–] pansyfield@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

my iphone 12 recently gave out. so i’d say no.

[–] LORDRAJA1000@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

yea still using my 12 pro max, if you can get your hands on a new one (not used) then def helps

[–] seunghyunkim@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Why do you need a 12 pro max if you cant get a 15 pro max?

[–] Manfred_89@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Depends on the price.

12 Pro is the oldest I would go. LiDAR, decent night mode, Dolby vision video, 5G. 11 pro is missing all those things.

[–] rlaw1234qq@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I just traded my 12PM for a 15PM - the £395 trade in offered by Apple was too good to miss and the battery was basically done. Honestly, apart from the faster refresh rate (which I stopped noticing after a day or so), the experience is very similar. One thing though: iOS 17 definitely came with a performance hit - apps were a bit slower etc.

[–] colin_staples@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It all depends on the price and condition.

The 12 Pro models have 6GB RAM (the non-Pro 12 has 4GB) and a processor that's modern enough to give many years of high performance service. And the triple camera setup is great.

Obviously each year the new models add more features and performance, but that adds more cost. And it's about getting a balance between the two.

I just got a like-new 12 Pro 256 with a brand new genuine Apple battery, and I paid less than £400. The equivalent 15 Pro 256 would cost £1100, so my new phone was around 1/3 the price of a new 15 Pro 256, but is way more than 1/3 the phone. And it should easily last 5 years.

But everyone makes different choices and has different needs. A 13 Pro or 14 Pro would be better, faster, 120hz display, etc. but they would be more expensive. And it's about finding the right balance for you

Only you can make the right decision. Compare specs and prices and make an informed choice.

This was really helpful I got a good iPhone 12 Pro Max 128gb 98% battery health and love don’t feel old at all very premium very smooth and responsive I come from a s22 ultra and don’t miss nothing on that even the 120hz don’t bother me as the iPhone like I said is just smooth and makes no difference to me

What about the plain 'ol 12? (Being selfish here as I might get one):

Not that bothered about:

The camera being bad compared to new phones, because ML upscaling etc. will be amazing in a few years time.

- Not too much RAM, as 'Chat GPT Siri' around the corner and we'll all need to buy phones with more RAM and neural engines anyway (even iPhone 15 pro max users).

- Not too much storage (I'm considering the base 64GB version) - I don't have many apps and no, I don't need to carry my content around with me. That's what iCloud and the cloud in general is for.

[–] MasterSummerSmith462@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yes, it’ll be viable even 7 years old

[–] OverL1ke@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

No,go 13 pro max it will be a much better experience, and i think you can find some great deals on it

[–] DiyorbekAbdimalikov@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I mean you can find 13 Pro with adding +80, 100 so 13 Pro is better.

[–] se777enx3@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

In my opinion 13 pro at least just because of 120hz

[–] Alternative-Juice-15@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Just moved from 12 pro max to 15 pro max and it really isn’t much different
