Yeah sure I can push out a quick update to do that

edit: done. Also tweaked weights a bit since adventurer was way too common

[–] Ategon@programming.dev 4 points 11 months ago

Heres my results, primarily around the gamedev section of the instance and here

[–] Ategon@programming.dev 12 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Ill start off with sharing my results. Top communities is dominated by programming.dev since thats what im the admin of

[–] Ategon@programming.dev 15 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

We usually hide bot communities here which would include zerobytes but my hiding system recently broke a bit due to the 0.19 update so I haven't hid any recently

I can fix that and hide the new communities that popped up

(Hiding just means they dont show on the feeds by default but show for someone if they subscribe to them)

Edit: Fixed the issues with my system and hid the main ones that appeared in the scaled feed, ill hide more as I see them

Edit #2: There is also a way to block an instance like you said by going to your user settings and then the blocks tab on web but this is one case that should be getting handled by us

Should be able to write up something larger soon

Ive been working on getting it merged in to another project (thats not been announced publicly yet) & been doing various things like markdown and some supporting sites (shields.io badges, recap, bot list)

[–] Ategon@programming.dev 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

yeah the interaction per content ratio is extremely high

c/programming was also considered lively last month since it got a bit of a boost from some posts but now its a bit under. Nothing else is close to these two

[–] Ategon@programming.dev 3 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (2 children)

Yeah, the 1 lively community is programmer humor

[–] Ategon@programming.dev 2 points 11 months ago

its fixable temporarily by restarting the server

I just have a cron job set up to do that every day

[–] Ategon@programming.dev 17 points 11 months ago (1 children)

There was some repeated patterns that this user seems to have been doing so I gave them an instance wide ban

  • Posts would be deleted and then reposted (especially if the original post had a negative score)
  • Conflicting information in some of the articles

if it has actual content that relates to the community then its allowed

if its paywalled though or doesnt relate to programming then can be removed (programming in a general term since this was voted to be a collector community for all programming content in the instance)

[–] Ategon@programming.dev 12 points 11 months ago (4 children)

mod here, its not a bot. Just a user who doesnt like to comment

In programming.dev we have a community request zone at !community_request@programming.dev

You can find info like this in the sidebar if youre on web (and there's going to be a support site made soon)

This is a community oriented around running polls for other people in the instance to answer! As theres no poll system built into programming.dev and lemmy currently things will be ran either with upvotes or external websites

Please keep topics on topic for the instance. Theres a more general purpose poll community at !polls@lemmy.world

Pretty nice tutorial by Lukky

Its Monday so we're continuing on with the daily questions of the day!

Thanks everyone who helped out! We've got some of our communities who built some stuff in the area and some other people that got incorporated into the dark theme corner

Was a bit of a rush to get things done since I didn't know the event existed until it was already underway but happy with what was done in the time. If anyone wants to team up to make a big artwork next year between our communities feel free to reach out to me. I'll be doing some planning ahead of time to prep

See if you can recognize any communities from the logos over by the P.D text!

Canvas has ended! (programming.dev)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by Ategon@programming.dev to c/events@programming.dev

The lemmy canvas event has ended! Here's what the final programming.dev section looks like

Thanks to everyone who helped out with making things. See how many community logos you recognize over by the p.d text

The lemmy canvas has been going for 2 days now! Here's what the P.D corner is looking like

Most things are nearing completion and there's been two more larger pieces made by c++ and godot

Theres still 1 more day left in the event if anyone else wants to participate. The website is https://canvas.toast.ooo

Theres some empty space in the area and you can build on the gray checker pattern as well (just make sure it looks good with everything else)

Lemmy Place Event (programming.dev)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by Ategon@programming.dev to c/meta@programming.dev

toast.ooo has hosted a place event for lemmy for the weekend! You can go to https://canvas.toast.ooo and log in using your lemmy account (a bot will send a code to your dms which you can use to verify yourself on the site)

I've started making a programming.dev logo over on the left. Feel free to help out with structure or making something for your community nearby. Theres already c/rust that made a little drawing. Ive been freehanding the looks but aiming to get 5x5 logos of different communities around the p.d text

Will last for the weekend and pixel cooldown is 30 seconds (with it being able to stack up to 6 pixels to place down at once with the stacked ones having a 1 min 30 sec cooldown)

Going to start doing daily questions of the day here about misc game development topics. Probably also going to start some over in !game_design@programming.dev as well

For today heres a question about which tools & software you find essential
