Particularly for open world games, less reliance on the map for exploration.

Elden Ring is absolutely brilliant at this, as soon as you leave the crypt you can see the landscape very clearly guiding you towards your goal, but also allowing for deviations with interesting POIs. This lessens as the game goes on, but remains somewhat true.

Just looking at the map and following floating markers is nowhere near as fun. RDR2 without the map is infinitely more immersive for example.
