Given the success of Threads, and Reddit’s current problems, I think there is a good chance that Meta are already working on a Reddit killer, based on ActivityPub. Threads membership could easily be extended to this new app, and all of a sudden there is a lemmy instance with 100 of millions of users, spewing forth all their unmoderated content to anything that is federated. The rest of the fediverse would be absolutely swamped. Gone will be lemmy as we know and love it.

Only nine weeks? He looks huge in that photo. But typical lab derpyness.

I would not be surprised that after Twitter, Meta’s next target is Reddit, which is ripe for a serious commercial rival. Meta are probably working on a Reddit replacement, using activitypub and their experience with Threads. If you federate already with Threads, then it is a relatively small step to extend that to Meta’s Reddit killer. Maybe federation with Threads will automatically be extended by Meta to this new app. Give them an inch….

I prefer being a passenger to driving, as I can do something more interesting, like reading a book. But I don’t think hands free driving is the answer, as you still have to be ready to take control. It just makes the driving experience worse, by taking away one of the marginally interesting things you can do to occupy your attention.

You said threadiverse a couple of times when I think you meant fediverse.

A lot of psychedelic grooves with this one. Far out, man.

I am with you on that.

It is just returning the favour. These tech billionaires hoover up so much of our data, it only seems fair that we publicise their publically available data too.

So when Hevesy handed back the shapeless, amorous lumps of solid gold, just how disappointed were they? “Mate, where’s me Nobel prize?”

It doesn’t say how humid the air needs to be. Will it still work if humidity is low?

I have just finished Ken Follett’s Never, which is a cracking, political thriller and page turner. He has also dumped the bad sex which plagued his historical series.

A lot of politics seems to be a clash of diametrically opposed value systems, so I wonder which ones the AI will have, and will they by any chance be close to the researchers own?
