that's around when the U.S. line on China shifted from normalization into Cold War 2.0.

I'm surprised we're low on alternative ideas lol. I'm just as curious what caused the peak as I am to what caused the drop. Maybe Cold War 2.0 mode was a reaction to the peak?

It'll be interesting to see how the U.S. adaptations of The Three-Body Problem portray China.

I enjoyed Three-Body (2023), best case scenario would be Netflix make a faster paced version, worst (and most likely) scenario is you get a wacky caricature, like Wang Miao is a highschooler who has to defeat both the anti-Christ and overthrow the PRC before prom or w/e.

The average westerner believes they have a higher quality of life than the average Chinese citizen, but that's slowly changing I think.

restaurants cost 2x what they did earlier in my lifetime, rent probably 3x. I remember learning about career options in highschool that essentially stopped existing less than a decade later. I'm not that old. How fast is slow suppose to be?

That would open a whole can of worms that contract law and false advertising laws and court precedents have already sealed.

I keep seeing all these game ads and noticing I don't know them, but they're often about fake games pretending they'ren't fake games or obvious "collectable pay-to-win" games but the streamer is screaming about random stuff while post-production effects are happening.
