You have communist symbols on your profile so I guess you'll believe whatever that ideology tells you to believe.

Anyway, you're obviously stupid. If you were intelligent you'd be able to make points without talking about dogs.

I'm not a massive supporter of Starmer, I think he's just relatively sensible, and I also think it's unlikely that Britain will have a more left-wing prime minister any time soon. The prime minister after Starmer could definitely be more right-wing. Maybe it will be Badenoch, or Jenrick, or another Tory.

Maybe you suffer from some sort of purity complex where anybody who isn't Mao Zedong is an enemy to you. If so then that's just fucking stupid, not least because all those communist leaders let their people suffer immensely. You're just a moron aren't you?

Fair points. I guess I don't mention Lemmy much online anymore anyway. If I mention it to somebody in real life I guess I'll tell them there are multiple servers to choose from.

You believe whatever your instance tells you to believe because you're a slave to an ideology

I'm not, so I think for myself, which you are seemingly incapable of.

True. I don't think I would recommend someone to look at Hexbear or Lemmygrad. Maybe I would mention Lemmy.world as the easiest entry point to Lemmy, and the existence of other servers like Feddit.org, Lemm.ee, etc.

I'm replying again because your posts are moronic. I didn't say that Starmer is my favourite politician of all time, I just think he seems relatively sensible. If I were to be an obedient dog then I would conform to whatever your shitty instance wants me to think, just like you do.

Can Trump's incoming administration really be said to stand "for the little guys" when it's full of millionaires and billionaires?

[–] SleafordMod 2 points 1 day ago (6 children)

Good points. Maybe if I'm trying to explain Lemmy to someone I should just link them to a list of servers, like the one here, so they can pick a server for themselves.

[–] SleafordMod 1 points 3 days ago

Fair point, thanks for the advice. I thought it was right-wingers who were meant to be arseholes, but on Lemmy it seems that some (not all) left-wingers are arseholes too.

You're genuinely a complete freak

[–] SleafordMod 2 points 3 days ago

Yeah fair enough. I'm just thinking some people might not want the hassle of deciding between instances, they might just want the most popular one, because popular things are usually reliable.

But yes there are obviously good reasons to use different instances, like I am using a British instance so I can easily see stuff from various British communities. I think I only found out about my instance by lurking lemmy.world though.

Fair points. I just think some people won't want the hassle of weighing up different instances, they might just want the instance with the most content and people, because I guess the most people implies reliability.

As for reasons for picking an instance, yes those are valid reasons. I picked this British instance so I can see all the British stuff when I view local posts, and other stuff when I view all posts. From another instance I guess I'd have to check every British community on feddit.uk manually.

Yes I reported your post because normal people, in civil conversation, don't refer to other people as animals. My hope with Lemmy is that people can be civil and polite but for some reason you didn't want to be.

It looks like I was right to report your post because the mods seemed to agree that it was a bad post.

Do you think the press is too critical of Keir Starmer?

Should we try to bolster our friendship with Europe?

The author claims that the UK government "must unambiguously launch talks on a big, expansive trade deal with the EU coupled with a deal on European defence".

Do you agree?

I read this story and thought it was interesting. Essentially it's saying that Zuck's recent changes to Meta moderation are almost certainly a response to Republican pressure, despite what Zuck claims.

I noticed that they disabled the comments on this story, while most stories have comments enabled. I guess they don't want a lot of angry comments from Trump supporters.

Do you think the government should tax private school fees?

Clegg said:

My own view... is that the United Kingdom will have to sort of architect a sort of rapprochement, or re-entry into the European Union in one shape or form

Do you agree with him?

The last time house prices were this expensive relative to average earnings was in the year 1876, nearly 150 years ago.

Do you agree with this or not?

Give it some time and maybe Lemmy will enter the top 10...

What do you think the solution is for the growing number of people who aren't in work?

Tsai, who left office in January, added: “A Ukrainian victory will serve as the most effective deterrent to future aggression.” This suggests Tsai believes that US military support for Kyiv... would help deter China from a cross-strait attack.

Do you agree with Merkel that Brexit was a "humiliation" for the EU?

I'm not sure if I would use that word, but I wonder what other people think.

Apparently, over 50% of voters think Europe is more important for trade than the US:

Asked 'is Europe or the US more important to the UK' in 'terms of trade', 58 per cent chose Europe and just 34 per cent the States
