In my younger days, early 20's, mid-'90's, I lived, to keep the story simple lets call it a dorm.. 1-2 people in each room, around 20 rooms.. As more started having PCs and gaming started being a popular hobby, it wouldn't take long before the hallway was full of LAN cables.

One time this group of youngsters (just a bit or few years max) was telling me how when they played UT (the original), this one guy completely dominated (regular deathmatch).. And I played unimpressed.. He went on and on how he had 4 to 1 KTD ratio every match, how he knew the map so much better, yada yada..

So, I briefly mentioned that I played it a bit as well (this is way way pre e-sport era, so no one was "a pro" and I would not say I was anywhere near "competitive standards, but I was generally more "hardcore gamer than most of my friends) and I too felt I had a small edge over others..

He challenged me to a 1v1, saying "show me what you got!".

5 rounds later, with me winning every single round with 4-5 times the kills score than him, I concluded that he was not THAT good, he was just "the best" when he played his friends. :)

A few years later, I got my ass handed to me by a 12 year old, in CS 1.6...
