Trump came out of the borough of Queens and was never, ever considered part of the true Manhattan elite. In fact, when he was starting out in the 1980's, Wife #1, Ivana, was the star of the show and Donnie was the chump who carried her bags.

1980s: Really rich in public perception, at least in rural Canada to little kids. Like a real Richie Rich without that Robin Leech accent!
2004: Played really rich on TV, reups the mystique from the 80s for the talk radio/TV crowds who don't see that real billionaires are all over the place.
2016: Really terrifyingly rich but not liquid yet.

He looks like he's lost a lot of weight recently. My theories are he either hopped onto the ozembic bandwagon; he knows his life is effectively over once he can't dealy the legal shit anymore, so he's just going all-in with cocaine; or stress is just absolutely destroying his body.
