Trickle down has never worked, ever. Why would anyone be surprised that it doesn't work now?

[–] Aldehyde@kbin.social 8 points 1 year ago

But Ronald Reagan said it would work! Republican Jesus couldn’t be wrong! (/s)

George H.W. Bush called Reagan's plan 'voo doo' economics when he ran against Reagan in the 1980 primaries. Changed his tune when reagan offered him the Veep spot.

Lol if there was any actual trickle down, Republicans would do whatever it takes to divert it into their pockets. Sharing wealth is not on the menu.

What if no one paid any taxes?

Have fun getting water and driving on roads. If your country is invaded I hope you can handle it alone. Among a shit ton of other things taxes pay for.

Reliable weather forecasts, disaster relief, education, consumer product safety, STANDARD WEIGHTS AND MEASURES.

People really sleep on the critical necessity of standardized weights and measures being one of the many invisible benefits brought to their lives by their tax dollars.

My country is being invaded with the help of my tax dollars. We don't have roads, we have a loose collection of potholes.

I'm sorry to hear that. What country do you live in?

[–] PersnickityPenguin@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

I've never been to the Midwest, but everyone I have met who lives there tells me they never pave the roads.
