Have fun getting water and driving on roads. If your country is invaded I hope you can handle it alone. Among a shit ton of other things taxes pay for.

Reliable weather forecasts, disaster relief, education, consumer product safety, STANDARD WEIGHTS AND MEASURES.

People really sleep on the critical necessity of standardized weights and measures being one of the many invisible benefits brought to their lives by their tax dollars.

My country is being invaded with the help of my tax dollars. We don't have roads, we have a loose collection of potholes.

I've never been to the Midwest, but everyone I have met who lives there tells me they never pave the roads.
