I was on Reddit for around 11 years. Zero regrets leaving.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.
Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding META posts.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.
Let everyone have their own content.
:::spoiler Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.
Me
Me, got on reddit in 2008 or 9.
My first account is a little over 12 years old. I catch myself opening up reddit everyone once and a while but have basically completely left at this point. Hadn't been happy with what it's become for years and the most recent shit storm just seemed like a good time to call it quits. 7ish years ago I used to spend a ton of time on the investing subreddits, such as the now notorious and huge wallstreetbets.
The communities I enjoyed have all been overrun and ruined. Reddit became a victim of its own size long ago. Everything is just lowest common dominator crap now. The investing subreddits like wallstreetbets are the most obvious to me. They're just large scale pump and dumps for crypto and meme stocks now. It's ridiculous.
12 years I think for my imekon account on reddit.
Just checked, I've registered my account... 9 years ago. Welp lol
11+ years, lurked longer than that. It's probably easier to make the change to Lemmy if you've seen the descent.
Around 12 years of reddit here. Completely purged my account and then deleted it. Haven't been back since.
Noticed that google which is basically a glorified reddit search engine, has become even worse
11 years here I think.
Not quite 10, but something around that. Popped up on place to contribute pixels to the guillotine and such, but haven't been back.
Use RSS to keep up with nosleep which is the only thing I really enjoyed very much.
Kbin/fedi really wasn't that hard to adjust to, in the end.
13 years for me and fuck Reddit. I don't see myself going back.
12 years here
Yo
13+ years on Reddit, never very active though... still modding some smaller communities.
about 12 years I think for me
Yep. Turns out I don’t miss it.
I was close, 9 years.
November 25, 2010
Fuck spez
I was a long term user until and left because of the third party apps removal.
I left it for content outside of two are communities that are only at reddit: r/Summonerschool and r/CompetitiveTFT. (they are also at discord, but I dont like "chat" style)
I think I was on the site for just about ten years. Haven't touched it since june.
10 yo for me
i delted my 12+ yr. account.
Had an 11 year old account.
I got all my accounts banned last year and I've been watching the decline ever since.
11 years+ here. Left almost a month ago.
Not quite 10 years, only 8, but I left the moment rif was shut down. Fuck spez
I am one. I had six Reddit accounts, a couple were throwaways. I started at Slashdot then Digg then Reddit. I’ve since deleted all my most popular posts (that caused PMs on the regular) then deleted the accounts afterwards.
I still view content on there but with no account using AdGuard and Sink It (removes Reddits BS “download app” prompts). I also browse incognito to not leave behind tracking cookies.
I’ve made sure I’m worthless traffic to them for the content that Lemmy doesn’t have.
+1 here.
I used the official Reddit app for some time before switching between Apollo and Joey (depending on whether I had an iPhone at the time or an Android).
All in all nearly 10 year though my last account is 7+ years old and this was the time I actually used the site and didn't just lurk. My last account isn't deleted, I just don't use it anymore. Lemmy at first seemed more complicated, but I stayed for the communication culture and the fediverse concept . I'd love to see lemmy grow to a reddit successor but I doubt it will get this big. Then again I wonder if this isn't for the positive. Also it is really refreshing not to be suffocated under rage- and clickbait by some malicious algorithm.
👋
Around 15 years for me. I also took 3 10+ year old accounts too
My Reddit account was 2013 so just about 10 years this month when I left.
12 years. Shredded it when bacronreader stopped.
8 years, deleted July 1. I kept a "throwaway" account to lurk when needed. Oh, the irony.
Sounding off. 15 years. Deleted that thing. Haven't looked back besides checking an occasional subreddit that decided to stay there.
Can't remember when I first started, but I paid for RIF Platinum in May 2014. It's been steadily declining for years, and the new API changes were the final nail in the coffin for me.
I literally only go back for a couple of the NSFW reddits like once a week. Other than that it is dead to me.
