Regarding spoilers; Please put "(Spoilers)" in the title of your post if you anticipate spoilers, as we do not currently have a spoiler tag available. If your post contains an image that could be considered a spoiler, please mark the thread as NSFW so the image gets blurred. As far as how long to wait until the post is no longer a spoiler, please just use your best judgement. Everyone has a different idea on this, so we don't want to make any hard limits.
Please use spoiler tags whenever commenting a spoiler in a non-spoiler thread. Most of the Lemmy clients don't support this but we want to get into the habit as clients will be supporting in the future.

No, Hollywood is full of original and creative ideas.
But the film industry isn't in the business of original ideas. They make and sell marketable products with the intention of financial return.
There's that famous quote from the CEO of Disney where he says something like "we don't make art, we make money. Sometimes in the process of making money we make art, but that's just a coincidence" (me paraphrasing)
We have no obligation to make art. We have no obligation to make history. We have no obligation to make a statement. But to make money, it is often important to make history, to make art, or to make some significant statement [...] In order to make money, we must always make entertaining movies, and, if we make entertaining movies, at times, we will reliably make history, art, a statement or all three.
Is the full quote, and it's such an unbelievably reasonable statement for a Disney CEO, it's insane that people have taken it, stripped it of all context and made it sound like Eisner was some kind of greedy art hater.
Yes, where have you been?? Lol
Leitch did decent work with Bullet Train, so I'm excited to see literally me working him
