Notorious former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has conducted an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin – the reason for his visit to Moscow – and said he has requested an interview with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Source: an announcement by Carlson and video message on tuckercarlson.com; Newsweek

Quote: "We’re in Moscow tonight. We’re here to interview the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin. We’ll be doing that soon."

Details: Carlson said he had been preparing for the interview with Putin for several months.

The former TV presenter said that it would be posted on his website. He also noted that Elon Musk had promised not to block this interview with Putin on X (Twitter).

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Tucker Carlson is a traitor and a Russian asset.

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 82 points 9 months ago (1 children)

And none of the numbskulls who consume his hateful rhetoric will ever believe that.

[–] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.world 35 points 9 months ago

It seems like they already know and that's what they like about him.

~~Tucker Carlson~~ The Republican Party.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 14 points 9 months ago

Russian asshat.

The only way this might be worth Zelenskyy‘s time is if he silently beats Carlson to a bloody pulp.

The man has REAL problems to deal with. He doesn’t need to be “interviewed” by some fascist bootlicker.

[–] Endorkend@kbin.social 30 points 9 months ago (1 children)

If I were Zelensky, I'd only allow Tucker to visit if he went to a specific location, was stripped completely naked, cavity searched and then brought, blindfolded, to an undisclosed location.

And then I'd still do the interview over Zoom.

[–] Shotgun_Alice@lemmy.world 12 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I like your thinking but I would send him to the front lines instead to interview the commanders in the trenches and make him see what Russia is really doing up close and personal.

Maybe Zelenskyy could just toss him in a POW camp.

You know Tucker will whine about it endlessly if he can't get an interview. And also if he can.

2028 this anal wart is running for president. Mark my words.

[–] Tja@programming.dev 12 points 9 months ago

We then will need Jon Stewart to run against him, to wipe the floor with him. Again.

He's not an idiot. He knows exactly what he's doing.

Someone can knowingly be an idiot.

Tucker Carlson remains dedicated to "both sides"ing even to the point of giving a soft ball interview to a dictator.

[–] HopeOfTheGunblade@kbin.social 45 points 9 months ago (1 children)

That's remarkably charitable. I'd say he's committed to serving the side of evil enough to softball a dictator.

"The former TV presenter said that it would be posted on his website. **He also noted that Elon Musk had promised not to block this interview with Putin on X (Twitter)." **

Of course he will; they coordinated this together. Now I'm not claiming I have proof of this, but tell me this doesn't smell 97% probable.

Musk just wants to end the war sob. Won't anyone think of the ~~children~~ dictators. /s

The “interview” is just cover.

My bet is Putin is vetting Tucker Carlson for Trump’s running mate.

Once Tucker kisses the ring, and likely commits a crime (or other misdeeds) on Putin’s orders (to serve as puppet-string kompromat for Putin’s plans), Putin will give the blessing for Trump to announce Tucker Carlson as his VP running mate.

Then, just imagine a 2028 Presidential bid from Tucker (win or lose in ‘24)…

the keywest butt tickler for president ?
I dunno man, that guy is walking, talking garbage.

[–] realitista@lemmy.world 34 points 9 months ago

Stay the fuck in Russia Tucker.

[–] slurpeesoforion@startrek.website 34 points 9 months ago (9 children)

Maybe Zelenskyy can agree and put him in jail until the war is over.

[–] pearsaltchocolatebar@discuss.online 20 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

He is a Russian asset, so Zelenskyy wouldn't even be in the wrong.

Maybe while travelling from Russia to Ukraine, he'll become a casualty of a genocidal invasion he supports.

Inb4 Tucker Carlson dies in the next few weeks, and everyone in close contact with him suffers serious illness, all in an attempt to get at Zelenski.

Check your underwear, Carlson, that's more of a risk to you than any window.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 9 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

Think Carlson will put a GPS in his ass so Putin can get coordinates on Zelenskyy?

[–] bazus1@lemmy.world 8 points 9 months ago

That's what Carlson heard them say, but he didn't see what it was they put up there forcefully and repeatedly.

[–] CeeBee@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago (4 children)

Are you suggesting he will randomly autodefenestrate himself?

Well, he is probably trying to get Putin to invade Canada, because he couldn't get the US to do it.

[–] Fallenwout@lemmy.world 9 points 9 months ago (1 children)

They putin a request for an interview with Zelensky.

Interviewing might not be a bad idea. But only for the purpose of getting important information from Russia.

Ukraine needs to win this war.

[–] RGB3x3@lemmy.world 34 points 9 months ago (1 children)

If you think the Tucson isn't interviewing Putin to show his "good" side, then you don't know the Republicans.

It would shock, but not surprise me if this interview comes out and all it's nothing but softball questions and avoidance of the war crimes Putin is committing.

Putin wouldn't agree to be interviewed if it were anything but that.

[–] na_th_an@lemmy.world 16 points 9 months ago (3 children)

I'm going to be shocked if this interview is anything other than Russian propaganda.
