Theory:

  • AI systems need to interact with humans.
  • AI systems will need to adapt to work best with the average human.

Therefore higher IQ AI systems will be dumbed down to work with average humans.

Could the alignment technology to limit AI actually be average people using AI for average stuff?

Example: take someone who gets a first class arts degree and then has to work at a superstore to make enough money to survive. At the weekends they will still be into higher academic stuff.

But over time their interaction with average people will bring them down to a more mundane level. Their vocabulary, interactions and thoughts will be limited to the needs of the stores users and not their original trainings higher ideals and aspirations.

there doesn't seem to be anything here
