Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

He was also one of the military scientists in Alien: Resurrection, so there's a pretty good chance he was a sociopathic space murderer in that one, too.

Edit:

Clearly this guy...

...is not in a good place, mentally.

[–] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

good chance he was a sociopathic space murderer in that one, too.

If memory serves: only by proxy. But I'll allow it.

[–] RaoulDook@lemmy.world 35 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Brad Dourif with an F.

He also played Grima Wormtongue in LOTR, the secret aide of Sarumon

[–] DigitalTraveler42@lemmy.world 14 points 9 months ago (2 children)

He was also Doc Cochran in Deadwood

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 18 points 9 months ago (3 children)
[–] andyburke@fedia.io 8 points 9 months ago (2 children)

One of his best performances. And he's a good guy! (At least about as good as you can get in Deadwood...)

[–] DigitalTraveler42@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

He was definitely the unsung hero of the series, whenever real shit was going down Doc would get the right people working together.

[–] crypticthree@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

He saved that little sqarehead girl

[–] armus@startrek.website 3 points 9 months ago

Shame about the grave robbing

[–] armus@startrek.website 5 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Just watching deadwood for the first time and saw this episode last night. The Reverend’s face was just like “… no no he’s got a point”

[–] Cagi@lemmy.ca 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Oh man, I'm so excited for you! One of the best shown ever. I watch it every year or two. This and Rome are the best historical fictions on TV.

[–] armus@startrek.website 3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

I decided to give the first episode a try and before I knew it I was at the end of season one. It’s really well done, at times uncomfortable, super entertaining. They sort of make you love-hate-pity every single character hah

[–] negativenull@lemm.ee 3 points 9 months ago

My favorite character from the series

[–] ivanafterall@kbin.social 4 points 9 months ago

Most importantly.

[–] teft@lemmy.world 11 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Corrected, my apologies to Mr Dourif. I have brought dishonor upon my house.

[–] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Maybe doesn't qualify as Space Murderer

[–] Diplomjodler@feddit.de 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)
[–] Chuymatt@kbin.social 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

His daughter has the same energy.

[–] DigitalTraveler42@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

I'm loving her in the Chucky series but she was funny as hell in Dirk Gently, damn did they cancel that series far too soon.

[–] GratefullyGodless@lemmy.world 35 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Let's not also forget that he's also the one who voices the psychopathic doll Chucky.

[–] teft@lemmy.world 16 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Oh he's been all over Hollywood. Chucky isn't a space murderer though, just a regular murderer. So he wouldn't work for this joke.

[–] fortycoats@lemmy.world 12 points 9 months ago (2 children)

I'm surprised there hasn't been a Chucky in space movie yet

[–] andyburke@fedia.io 9 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Hello, fellow person amazed by this - maybe we need to try to set up a pitch meeting because I don't see how this could go wrong.

[–] teft@lemmy.world 10 points 9 months ago (1 children)

How are you replying from the future? Do I need to call in a violation of the Temporal Prime Directive?

[–] andyburke@fedia.io 10 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I have my Section 31 badge around here somewhere...

[–] AutistoMephisto@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

You might be Section 31, but I'm Psi Corps.

Isn’t he the guy that plays the prisoner murderer in the xfiles that can predict the future.

[–] teft@lemmy.world 9 points 9 months ago

If I had a nickel for every time Brad Dourif played a psychic murderer I'd have two nickels. Which is also weird.

man I love this dude, mad respect for acting professionals who always get type-cast as wackadoos and crush it every time

[–] Cagi@lemmy.ca 6 points 9 months ago

He's one of my very favourite actors. Everyone needs to watch Deadwood.

[–] wallybeavis@lemmy.world 11 points 9 months ago

Holy crap! I thought I recognized him in B5, and later on Voyager, I had totally forgotten he was the Harkonnen Mentat in Dune. He did a fantastic job the both latter roles, I don't think he was fleshed out enough in Dune

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 9 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (2 children)

It must be weird being typecast as the "quiet serial killer." Like you just exude so much quiet serial killer energy that's all people see you as. Because he has been that character in much more. These just happen to be the times that character was in space!

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

And then there his sexy ass in Night Shift.

Oh shit I literally just watched him in voyager, what a coincidence!

And now his daughter followed in his footsteps playing the sociopathic murderer in Dirk Gently.

[–] PlasmaDistortion@lemm.ee 3 points 9 months ago

And she is phenomenal in that role. Easily the best actor in the show (sorry Elijah Wood).

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 6 points 9 months ago

Easily one of the best "that guy" in Hollywood. He shows up everywhere and I've never seen a bad performance.

I'll go my grave believing that he was the true main character of One Flew Over the Cukoos Nest.

[–] Infynis@midwest.social 5 points 9 months ago

Suder was the man. I wish we'd gotten more of him, but what we did get was great

[–] paddirn@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

Another character actor that I would recognize anywhere instantly ("Huh, it's that guy again.") and yet I've never known his name til just now. There's so many people like this that seem to show up in all the sci-fi series whose names I never seem to know.

[–] negativenull@lemm.ee 3 points 9 months ago

1984 Dune was a special movie

[–] TotallyNotSpez@lemm.ee 3 points 9 months ago

One of my favourite actors. Also X-Files!

[–] s1ndr0m3@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

He is also the voice of Chucky in 90% of the Child's Play franchise.

I really loved his character in Voyager. It was really interesting seeing a psychopath who was aware of his tendencies and knew he shouldn't be around other people.

[–] slingstone@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

I'm literally watching "Passing Through Gethsemane" right now and happened on this post. Weird.

[–] Window_Error_Noises@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

I found and mildly edited this image, because it specifically came to mind, music and all - I've had a thing for Dourif since I first saw him in Dune, even with those brows (especially with those brows?) and it continued through even his nutiest characters, through the years. This definitely says something about my taste in people, that I choose to ignore! ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

[–] dangblingus@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

We dont know his story, but his character in The 5th Element is creepy and sus.

[–] lingh0e@sh.itjust.works 5 points 9 months ago (2 children)

He wasn't in the 5th Element...?
