Society is currently FUCK YOU PAY ME! That is what it is. Our basic needs cannot be accessed unless FUCK YOU PAY ME!
WHEN (not if) AGI/the singularity/and eventually ASI happens, jobs will get lost, obviously... this is already happening and will transform society for good or ill.
Let's say we get to a place (insert date here) where technology is amazing, can do amazing things, where MANY PEOPLE do not work and unemployment is higher than it has ever been and we exist on a UBI or other income scheme...
What stops governments/corporations from being like:
You still dont get socialized medicine. Housing is still scarce/you gonna rent... FUCK YOU PAY ME... what stops manufactured scarcity from continuing as it largely does now?
