Surely AI can't just keep growing smarter and smarter forever right? Sure it can be more efficient with energy consumption and etc, but is there any limit to the actual intelligence of AI?

It's a question I've been pondering. If you give AI a thousand years, will it get smarter and smarter constantly for a thousand years? Or will it reach the peak in like 3 years and just chill?
