It seems a post singularity world will have a volatile human hierarchy. History has always had a human hierarchy and at this point it has become a part of who we are. Unlike the past that had a human hierarchy largely out of people’s control, genetics or material wealth, the future will be based on merit and effort.

With genetic engineering, everyone will be able to choose who they want to be. All of the sudden if you don’t choose to be conventionally attractive or athletic you will be seen just as interesting and rare. Currently, if you don’t meet society’s standards you are seen as a failure, bad luck, that you deserve bad, etc. That karma and bad past lives are the reason you are who you are today. This in part because everyone thinks well of course you would want to look like that actor who doesn’t. With genetic engineering we’ll find there’s a decent amount of people who choose not to. That will make them interesting to me. So does this mean there will be no hierarchy? Highly unlikely.

As of now I picture the future more like go kart competitions instead of traditional sports. Everyone will have access to the same tools, abilities and there will be rules and caps on what you can and can’t do. So everyone will have the same shot. It will be people and AIs versus other people and AIs. You won’t have the Lebron and Michael Jordan because people will be able to modify and tweak themselves in real time. Even if someone wins a race because of an overpowered AI, others will either start using that AI or adjust theirs to meet the new standards. It will be a push on innovation and creativity, and even creativity won’t only be for a select few but rather available easily for everyone. With all this in mind, hierarchy will simply not be robust but rather change freely and dynamically. People will still be celebrated, but for a shorter amount of time and then we’ll move on. There won’t be idols and people with god status. Unless that person dedicates their existence to something and works hard at it for their entire existence and even then it will simply will be unattainable to hold god status because there will be so many awesome people with talent. We will be able to bring true competition to the human race. Hierarchies will be like trends.

Someone brought up the point if everyone is Lebron, what’s the point, no one will try. That is a common misconception. There will be a greater variety of superstars, not everyone is Lebrons, Michael Jordans, etc but rather the ability to be a different type of superstar. And even then it will be short lived. Lebron won’t last because people will be able to change in real-time to combat his play. Like updates and patches, and superior strategies. We will see someone be Lebron in one game then quickly in the next game he will no longer be as effective. That doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate Lebron in that game if anything it will be even more celebrated because it was so special, creative, outside the box, etc.

TLDR; Post singularity will not have an established “set and stone” human hierarchy

I can be totally wrong which is why it’s labeled shitpost
