There are so many levels of stupidity and cringe here. Brexit for starters! Then the way this idiotic policy, overseen by. Cruella Braverman will cost us a fortune in removing these "terrible people" who are "leaching from us born here Brits". Even if we could magically zap these people away, it would not improve the UK economy, it would not reduce crime, it would not give Backstreet Bob the job as a brain surgeon that he's not been allowed because " they" gave it to a migrant. (Rant over, but quietly seething.)

On the point of being a brain surgeon, it's not like the NHS is in great shape to be affording one of those! I wonder how that could have happened.

Migrants are just another worker economically. Not much different than someone having a child. They usually help the economy.

But this is not really about economics, it is about people that are different.

The whole settlement scheme has been a disaster. uKVI has historically been a truly terrible organisation. I personally have been given false information from them on more than one occasion so this doesn’t surprise me in the slightest.

Why is extraordinarily ridiculous though, is why someone from the EU that already had permanent residency wouldn’t just have that acknowledged or have automatically moved onto the new scheme. UKVI will already have her details on file electronically with biometric enrolment data.

Anything to make peoples lives miserable, in yet another clear implementation of government policy. The cruelty is the point.

This is exactly the kind of highly skilled and self-sufficient migrant that supposedly people want and they're also driving them away. Great job.

With a British husband and a baby girl with dual nationality

Has the UK already repealed the EU's citizens' (obviously here it would be the British citizen's right, the husband's) to live with their family, aka residency cards for spouses of citizens?

As usual, conservatives destroy everything they touch. Oppression and destruction are compulsions for conservatives.

Absolutely Brexit is self harm not often observed in otherwise well developed parts of the world. Is kicking her out a loss for the UK? Probably.

But this lady seems otherwise very capable, and it's not like they've kept it a secret what she needed to do to get settled status, nor is it very difficult.. so can't say I feel too sorry for her.

And Brits living in the EU go through similar processes in those countries, with some "equally unfortunate" getting kicked out.

If you want to live in a country, you really should be responsible to get up to speed on local requirements.
