Dwarf fortress, but can we wait until adventure mode is implemented
Pokemon Go. It's fun and keeps me active!
Same terraria for me. So many good mods and replayability
Factorio, 3k hours in and at least as much ahead of me
Dark Souls. It taught me about the life.
Easily Final Fantasy Tactics for me.
I've done the calculations before, but the TL;DR is that one challenge run I enjoy, the Tactics Double Dare, has 116,000+ variations just for the basic game without using cheats to use special, enemy or ally specific Job Classes.
Even an emulated run using frameskips to speed it up would probably take 20-30 hours on average, meaning that to do all the variations would take just under 332 years of play to do them all. That's actual play time, mind you, not including necessities like sleeping, eating, generating an income, interacting with friends and family or playing anything else.
With cheats to allow for NPC/Enemy Job Classes, it easily reaches into the millions of potential variations, with an equally absurd playtime.
Halo reach, istg I’ve never gotten tired of it
Heroes of Might and Magic 3. It's well over 20 years old and still my all time favorite game.
Oxygen Not Included
Football Manager. Can always do a different save or just keep one going forever
Tetris
I might go crazy but at least I'll have my funny little blocks to keep me company.
Bloodborne. Never gets old.
Osrs
Final Fantasy XIV. Been playing it for nearly 6-7 years now.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition
TF2
Doom
Limitless modding and customization.
DND 3.5 with a table of 8 players and all of us know how to gm and have stories for people to play.
Peak tabletop gaming right there. Eight is way too many, though. Max five players.
My group transitioned to Pathfinder 2e. It's no 3.5, but the QoL improvements are nice.
Halo
Good choice, Terraria would be my pick too.
Arkham knight, been playing almost daily simce release.
Fantastic combat, stealth, gliding, driving, and TANK.
Basically any vibe I’m in the mood for is covered in one game, and there’s buttloads of challenges to keep me occupied
Gemstone IV
Been playing it off and on for the last 28 years.
Subnautica
Final Fantasy XIV
Final Fantasy XI
retail wow, because rn i am playing it forever
RDR2, the amount of content is legendary and I could spend hours just looking at the beautiful environment.
Rimworld
Botw it never gets old
If MMOs count, Eve. I've been enjoying it off and on for 15 years now and I feel I've still barely scratched the surface of the content. Plus, the constantly changing galaxy, sovereignity, and mechanics keeps things interesting.
If they don't, The Long Dark. I love the atmosphere and art style, and every day can be a battle to survive the quiet apocalypse.
Hypixel Skyblock
Minecraft. The way you can change the entire gameplay via mods to be something entirely different is insane.
Doom PS1. The game that made me realise what gaming could be.
Shadow of war, as most fun thing in this is not story but mechanics
Combat mechanics? Or nemesis system?
I’m mainly an arkham player and recently swapped to shadow of mordor (first one?), and find it a bit slower than I’m used to
Loving seeing how the games have influenced each others’ gameplay though :)
Arkham, huh? I guess I should try it a bit later. Right now I m grinding first class captains
Minecraft
If mods are allowed definitely Skyrim
Hades
Skyrim, literally home for me, back when I was 12 and now still
At this moment, starfield, maximum durability
If there will always be players, World of Warcraft Vanilla. Otherwise Diablo 2 for the single player aspect.
Lotro
Heroes of Might and Magic III
Definitely UNCHARTED!!! Drakes Deception
