DND 3.5 with a table of 8 players and all of us know how to gm and have stories for people to play.

Peak tabletop gaming right there. Eight is way too many, though. Max five players.

My group transitioned to Pathfinder 2e. It's no 3.5, but the QoL improvements are nice.
