Do a factory reset then connect to the web interface and manually upload latest firmware downloaded from netgear (don't google "netgear firmware).

I tried that once. Held the reset pin in for 7-10 seconds. Nothing happened.
If you hold the reset button (recessed, need a paperclip) for 5+ seconds and then release the power LED should start blinking and it should reset itself within about 2 minutes. If that doesn't work it looks like you need a new gizmo.

I know you said you tried with static ips but It really sounds like an ip issue. After you have reset the router, try setting up all your devices with an ip reservation so you can make sure 2 devices don’t try to grab the same ip.
