I remember this shower thought from when people were jumping ship from Digg to Reddit.

At some point, you picked Digg up, put it down, and never picked it back up again.

It makes me sad to think about how one day I picked up my own kids for the last time… my eldest is bigger than me now, I could pick her up with effort but obviously it’s not the same lol 😆 then there’s my youngest, a mere 6 months old, and it breaks my heart to think about how someday I’m going to pick him up and put him down and it will be the last time and I won’t realize it, won’t remember it as anything special… I can’t remember the last time I picked up my two older kids, and it just passed into obscurity in my memories 🤷🏻‍♀️🥺😭

I have the same thoughts. I think many parents think the same sometimes.

I remember the last time my dad bounced me on his knee. I had to be maybe 7 or 8, maybe 10 years old. I remember feeling a bit big for it at the time, and my dad said to me that it was probably the last time he'd bounce me on his knee. And it was.

It was a family get together and a lot of people were there that are now just dead and gone. Thankfully, my parents are still doing well... For now.

It's unfortunate they want so much space from my brother and I. It feels like every time I see them, at least another year passes, sometimes two or three, and they're both much grayer and starting to hit that age where I can tell they just aren't as sharp as they used to be.

Life is an absolute gift, but also such a horribly frustrating bitch about so many things. I do not look forwards to death, save for the eternal respite from life.

So we’re just going to post the best-of each sub?

Gotta get it out of system so this place feels more like home to more people.

Jesus man, this post was enough of a shot to the heart already!

At some point your parents reached for your hand when walking in public, and you pulled away for the last time.

Life is about change.

Especially if you're a guy, when did the hugs stop?

U is too heavy. Un-heavify.

[–] livus@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Mmm hmm.

At some point you're going to close reddit best of and never open it again.

[–] ivanafterall@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

I get the intended point, but really, THANK GOD.

I was always told "they grow up fast" didn't really give it much thought until we had our own. Now she is just over one year old and I have to make a conscious effort to really slow down and live the moment and appreciate even the mundane things. I want to be able to say that yeah, i miss these times but also be glad I was there with her.
