This subreddit is here to facilitate discussion between marxists.
There are other communities aimed at helping along new communists. This community isn't here to convert naysayers to marxism.
If you are a member of the police, armed forces, or any other part of the repressive state apparatus of capitalist nations, you will be banned.
Do not attempt to justify your use of oppressive language.
Doing this will almost assuredly result in a ban. Accept the criticism in a principled manner, edit your post or comment accordingly, and move on, learning from your mistake.
We believe that speech, like everything else, has a class character, and that some speech can be oppressive. This is why speech that is patriarchal, white supremacist, cissupremacist, homophobic, ableist, or otherwise oppressive is banned.
TERF is not a slur.
Posts that are low-effort or otherwise irrelevant will be removed.
This is not a place to engage in meta-drama or discuss random reactionaries on lemmy or anywhere else.
This includes memes and circlejerking.
This includes most images, such as random books or memorabilia you found.
We ask that amerikan posters refrain from posting about US bourgeois politics. The rest of the world really doesn’t care that much.
Posts asking entry-level questions will be removed.
Questions like “What is Maoism?” or “Why do Stalinists believe what they do?” will be removed, as they are not the focus on this forum.
Marxists of all tendencies are welcome here.
Refrain from sectarianism, defined here as unprincipled criticism. Posts trash-talking a certain tendency or marxist figure will be removed. Circlejerking, throwing insults around, and other pettiness is unacceptable.
If criticisms must be made, make them in a principled manner, applying Marxist analysis.
The goal of this subreddit is the accretion of theory and knowledge and the promotion of quality discussion and criticism.

It's all nothing without putting it to practice tbh. I think practicing actual Marxism-Leninism is what's lacking. Plenty of academic works exists if you know where to find them
Not that I'm against making stuff more accessible, but I find that works best when allied to actual parties and such. In Brazil for instance plenty of my comrades in the Brazilian Communist Party (PCB) are translating works from their source Russian texts and publishing them online and to books. Helps fundraise too.
Advanced Marxism is when the government (who is already doing a lot of stuff: ie. communism) start doing EVEN MORE STUFF. Till there’s no stuff left to do.
This mechanism described as a problem:
What is advanced marxism, and how can we bring it to the people over the internet?
Why is or should be a goal? The underlying hypothesis is that the more Marxism more people understand the more the need for class organization will occur, the better the vehicle for change. What if this is wrong? What if it takes so long for people to understand Marxism that by the time they do it is too late to do much about it other than to try to become experts in teaching others the same analytical/critical skills. So we end up with grouchy old people who think they know it all and blame those that know less for the deficits of Marxism as vehicle for change.
What if class organization doesn't need Marxism or Marxists as patriarchal figures to guide the blind and was allowed to form its own vanguardism of class consciousness, digesting the problems of the class and coming up with its own goals and plan?
Is it the chicken and egg dilemma, which comes first? Is it the complexity of Marxism in interpreting 21st century reality that is inhibiting true class mass organization and action? Class consciousness alone, for some people in some parts of the world may result in very reactionary tendencies, such as sexism, racism, nationalism, etc.
One thing is for sure, that if one (individual) wants to become or be a better capitalist he must first study "advanced Marxism" because the stuff actually works.
I believe what one could consider "advanced Marxism" is the application of Marxism to philosophy, history and economics, or rather the dialectical method of thinking to these branches of science.
One of the reasons these are some of the fields that are used more by Marxists is because of the need that Marx had to prove the nature of capital and profit, and so on, but in reality it could be applied to anything and every branch of science could be expanded and improved with dialectics, just like Engels did with his dialectical study of the natural sciences, or how Marx applied it in his later years to the study of mathematics and calculus. While I don't think this expanse is unnecessary, it's not as important to understand the class struggle aspects that could be translated into praxis, so that's why sticking with philosophy, economy and history are more important.
If you'd want to go into either of those, you'd need to get a basic understanding of Spinoza, Ricardo, Hegel, Descartes, Adam Smith, and probably a few others. Still, I think understanding some basic Hegel you can get to understand dialectics, and I haven't tried reading Das Kapital yet, but I guess you could get something from it even though you have very basic economics.
