Do I tell them and risk being openly mocked by a group of kids, or do I risk one of them knocking my five year old off the climbing frame?

I went with the former. They took it well. Dignity in tact.

My biggest adrenaline rush was telling a mom that her little shits were throwing sand at my toddler. The punks were at least seven or eight.

More adults need to tell kids to behave. It helps reinforce norms, and it reminds kids what's expected of them.
