Why do you practice it? Working toward a goal? Or why dont you?

I think it's mostly depression for me. It's somehow made my time preference extremely low, so I don't spend money for "immediate satisfaction". At the same time it allows (or forces) me to live without much food (~1-2 slices of bread/day). Saving me quite some money.

Although time to time I have a thought to invest those money into something useful, I can't because of lack of motivation. So it's not a good/rational "non-consummerism"

I would rather invest my money than save it.

I haven’t been lately since we’ve spent a lot of money on a mortgage, wedding and honeymoon. But up until then we were saving like crazy. I’d like to go back to it and build up our savings again for a rainy day and future kids. To be fair we had a beautiful wedding but as my wife liked to remind me all the time, we spent well below the national average.

I was for years and years. We let up a little bit, but even after college, my wife and I lived like we were still poor students for half-a-decade longer in order to get the money together for a home. Now, of course, we spend more money since we have a kid and our into eating healthy.

Nonetheless, I still see what we do as a sort of grind with the exception that we do buy quality foods and don't hesitate to treat ourselves to ice cream. But zero money towards booze, video games, or otherwise frivolous stuff, and I am proud of that. It's a good example for my kid.

Sparse, teutonic living should be the norm.

I don't give money to scummy billion dollar companies, simple as. That is my frugality to not give my money to psychopaths.

Because it's a more rewarding life. You don't need cheap Chinese shit, you don't need triple ply toilet paper, you don't need entertainment services, you need to go outside, dig your hands in the dirt, spend time with people that you love, create things to see your will turn your imagination into reality and strive to continue to learn new things. I don't even think about frugality, and when I see people with their surroundings filled with doodads and gadgets and things I can't help but feel like they're depressed. They usually are.

Ill start,

I practice frugal living because Im trying to save up for a house in a rural place, and prices are skyrocketing (think 400 to 500K Eur or 550K USD)

I want to give my wife and future kids a healthy place to experience an upbringing without present societal problems.

My escape plan if it doesnt work out is go back to salaried work and rent a nice house in an eastern european country

I have zero subscriptions except for a mobile plan for the family and an internet connection, I have the cheapest health insurance and eat mostly chicken and whatever vegetables are on sale. Food is fuel so I dont really mind whats for dinner which saves a whole bunch of money.

I find that you can have a very comfortable life without actually taking away luxuries like vacations if you dont succumb to daily pleasures like ordering take out or buying streaming crap.
