Liberals are fixated on the fact that these guys are young, which is a reactionary take in my opinion. The fact that amerikkka is a gerontocracy run by ancient rich vampires fucking sucks and is a huge impediment to improving the quality of life for workers. The issue is not that they're kids--it's that they're cryptofascist computer-touching Thiel-bros who are thinly disguised pawns of my-hero. Criticizing them on the basis of their age instead of their actions and ideology is a red herring that only serves to reinforce existing power.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 31 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What sucks about Amerikkka literally is that the only alternative to stuck-in-their-ways boomers that insist on never retiring are “le epic troll” zoomers that know what they’re doing is wrong, and are doing it anyways as a joke.

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago

It's just a """joke""", but they actually mean it

[–] Lemister@hexbear.net 20 points 2 days ago

good take because half of the ghouls in the senate would want to do the same anyway.

[–] grendahlgrendahlgen@hexbear.net 14 points 2 days ago

The way to make a criticism involving their age without being reactionary is to put it in context.

That can be the context of human brain development, pointing out that impulse control and decision making abilities are literally not fully formed at their age. Or the (related) context of the power dynamic between them and their much-older superiors.

It's reactionary to attack the age directly, and therefore denigrate young people broadly. As usual, what matters is the intersection of their age and other factors.

I agree, instead of just age they really should hammer home these people are so inexperienced they don't have a proven track record of leadership.

But I guess that's the point, they're loyal to Musk

[–] Philosoraptor@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago

Nor do they have especially good ideas. I think there can be a place in political organization--even in leadership--for people who don't already have a ton of experience, especially if they're working in concert with people who do have the experience. Again, I think the problem is that to the extent that these guys have any vision or values, it's "let's burn it all down and install Peter Thiel as CEO of the government." There's a lot to criticize about those values without even touching anything about these people personally. Their youth is only relevant insofar as it makes them perhaps easier to influence.

Also, r/whitepeopletwitter has been temp banned on Reddit for doxing all of their addresses.

[–] MF_COOM@hexbear.net 56 points 2 days ago (2 children)

How are they cooler than us

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 35 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

They're not cooler than us, just more visible.

Edit: to be fair, I actually am not sure if it was whitepeopletwitter who doxed them, but they've been sharing the doxxed information from what I can tell.

[–] kristina@hexbear.net 10 points 2 days ago

Tell them to come here lol

[–] piggy@hexbear.net 68 points 2 days ago (1 children)

In a decade this will go 1 of two ways, either these people will be hanged upside down in the street, or they'll be defended by Democrats as experienced bureaucrats and experts in the field of government efficiency.

Why not both?

[–] DivineChaos100@hexbear.net 32 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I unironically think these people are just "friends" Elon made on 4chan and he thinks they're all in on one big huge prank but they're just using him and his influence to fsu

[–] CloutAtlas@hexbear.net 17 points 2 days ago

4chan, the clownworld LinkedIn

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 43 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Wait is this really what DOGE consists of? Really?

[–] riseuppikmin@hexbear.net 44 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Because it's so absurd- yes, these are the people dismantling the US administrative state

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 41 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I'm more and more convinced of the theory that Imperial decline is accelerated because only its builders understood it properly, the successors genuinely believe the justifications given by the builders and thus self-sabotage it. What a timeline.

[–] riseuppikmin@hexbear.net 21 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Here is a comment of mine from two days ago:

"We're not doing anything.

The US has simply decided to destroy itself because the idiot failsons/daughters of smarter imperialists took the reins as true believers of the past's bullshit and took power.

Now it just burns because it burns"

We're in lockstep in our thinking about this

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

So far it's the explanation that makes the most sense, though I don't discount the possibility of being part of a genuine purpose.

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 10 points 2 days ago

Less of a purpose than the logical conclusion of late capitalism becoming fascism.

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago

Yep I have made basically the exact same argument for years. It has been decades in the making.

[–] sooper_dooper_roofer@hexbear.net 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

you can't teach your kids to be as nasty as you

also this is why China needs a Xi Jingping/Deng Xiaoping AI

[–] marx_mentat@hexbear.net 40 points 2 days ago

Why does the first guy look like Tucker Carlson

[–] nothx@hexbear.net 9 points 1 day ago

The issue is that bullying them would lead to more than just school shootings.

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 9 points 2 days ago

Damn, is A1 a young Tucker Carlson?
