Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

"Bill Gates wants to put a chip in my brain!" [Riots.]

"Musk is eliminating any oversight so he can put a chip in my brain!" [Thunderous applause.]

Judging from Tesla quality, you would have to be pretty desperate to use neuralink

[–] hemmes@lemmy.world 8 points 4 hours ago

Me: “This Neuralink sucks! It’s nothing like you said it was going to be!”

Tesla: “Yeah…why don’t we go ahead and activate Helly R. instead, mmmkay?”

[–] cyborganism@lemmy.ca 11 points 4 hours ago

Hey by the way, Canada's Christia Freeland, ex minister of finance, and candidate for the open position of prime minister, proposed a 100% tariff on all Tesla vehicles in Canada.

They keep reaching out to me, thinking that I want to help them do this shit. Maybe I should get inside and start sabotaging.

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 8 points 4 hours ago

Simple sabotage is in these days!

[–] Naia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 hours ago

If these people volunteer and we end up having elections again it could solve the problem...

[–] Hobbes_Dent@lemmy.world 126 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

Can’t have people in the way of testing on humans.

Just full speed ahead to Nazitown on self drive.

[–] OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca 21 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

How long until they use their concentration camps for subjects? Promise the detainees freedom after "a few mild experiments" and you'd have plenty to test on.

[–] BedSharkPal@lemmy.ca 10 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

If it came out he was forcibly experimenting on trans people, would you even be surprised?

[–] RubberElectrons@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

That's just legit reason for Luigi at that point. Like that's so horrifying I think most of the population in the US would murmur quiet approval, even if they'd voted for dump.

[–] bane_killgrind@slrpnk.net 4 points 3 hours ago

"immigration incentives"

A potentially positive influence on receiving review on your concentration camp status

[–] blakenong@lemmings.world 43 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Sounds a little bit like how Nazi scientists did all kinds of weird shit to people.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 35 points 6 hours ago

nothing is coincidence

[–] jeena@piefed.jeena.net 61 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

This is what Musk came to America for, the land of the free, free of laws, free of oversight, free to do terrible things without reprecutions.

[–] WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world 13 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Free to buy the legislative, judiciary, and executive.

[–] GreyEyedGhost@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 hours ago

I prefer the best money can buy. Best politicians, legal system, healthcare, education....all can be had for the right price.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I wonder who fElon is rooting for in that Cabaret "Tomorrow Belongs to Me" scene....

[–] Cris_Color@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago

I read that initially as fee-lon and was super confused lol 😅

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 49 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

It is astonishing that people voted for such corruption. Fucking idiots.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 18 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Yes, but they are winning against the WOKEMINDVIRUS, which was obviously having so much impact on their personal lives....

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 9 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (1 children)

But now they've been saved from the scourge of, umm, people who put pronouns in their email signature.

[–] tburkhol@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago

Next they'll come for Mr. Ms. and Mrs.

You know, I just noticed: there's no "r" in missus, so abbreviating it "Mrs" doesn't really make sense. Maybe it's supposed to be a possessive, like Mr's, rather than an actual gender signifier.

[–] simplejack@lemmy.world 19 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Good on her for staying, but as I recall, formal notice would’ve only given her 30 more days.

Well, might be enough time to shine light on it and cause a public uproar since this is pretty corrupt even by January 2025 standards (can't speak for March or May...).

Ultimately shock & awe only works if there isn't enough time to process and respond, so the 30 day delay is arguably very important here.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 13 points 6 hours ago

Gee, what a weird coincidence.

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 2 points 4 hours ago

How dare you accuse the prince of crimes.
