Religion is mostly used to as an excuse to make you feel better for the bad things you’ve done.

”I did a bad thing, but it’s what God wanted, so it’s all good. Anything God wants must be good, because he himself is inherently good. And in case it wasn’t what God wanted, I can always ask him for forgiveness. God forgives everyone - because he’s inherently good.”
