If we can create some sense of global community between the average social media app user from china, and the average user from america, thats a good thing.

Its not clear to me the US can implement a blanket ban. Cut off TikTok's head and twice as many apps appear; more interest and focus is given.

Whenever I see somebody peddling FUD about Chinese technology, it just reinforces my idea that the vast majority of people are sheep being herded by those richer than them.

This is a trade war, people. You're being manipulated to hate Chinese companies because Americans want your money instead. It really is that simple.

You have to be a special kind of ignorant to think putting your faith in either nation's corporations is ever a good idea. I guess a lot of people on the Internet now don't know about PRISM or anything else Snowden has revealed to us.

Fun fact: The EternalBlue malware developed by the NSA exploited unknown bugs in Windows (0-days.) This malware was leaked to the public and resulted in the WannaCry ransomware, because all Windows computers were vulnerable. The American government never notified the company nor the public of the vulnerability, and many innocent people got screwed over because of it.
