I have all of this but food, drink, and the salt de-icer. food and drink we tend to bring as we go and honestly salt is a dumb thing. sand would be more useful but even then I can't see keeping it in the car. mini lock deicer is nice to have in a jacket pocket but not going to be very useful if you your locked car when you need it. also not extra gloves , and hat but blankets and sleeping bag instead. Im not one of those people who goes out not properly dressed just because im driving.
Salt literally saved my rental car less than 24 hours ago when I couldn't finish a mountain climb to my cabin in the woods. It got me to a place to leave the car AND it cleared a curve on the hill when left to sit over night so I could get down the mountain.
Sand would not have gotten it done.
ok that is a really strange specific situation though. Im really not sure how exactly salt helped over just a shovel, Like you cleared a spot but you would not be able to get the car in unless the snow was completely melted away , but usually its about wheels spinning which is where the sand comes in to get traction and get out.
Ice on the road from other drivers using the same tracks on a very steep curve. Shovel wouldnt have done anything because it was basically half an inch of ice. Sand might have got me up out of the way, but salt melting the area overnight (and several feet downhill) made it possible for me to safely negotiate the corner on the way down the next day as well.
yeah I would still say your thing is situation specific though. like folks living in mountains should do a bit more than like general everyone should have these things in winter in their car.
Fair
I keep some space blankets in the car along with a foldable spade and a giant self-heating tin of beans and sausages.
a giant self-heating tin of beans and sausages.
I didn't like your last nickname for me and, honestly, this one isn't much better, not gonna lie.
You aren't denying it's accuracy though...
But, yeah, but, but, but... I got nothing.
You've got beans and tiny sausages in you, that's what you've got.
The snossages... *sniff*... aren't tiny.
Blame the cold weather.
Oh no I forgot my spare battery
dives into the frigid ocean
Do they mean expect car battery? They don't really use a serviceable without tools so what exactly am I going to do. Also if I got jump leads what's the point in the spare battery as well?
Think they mean spare torch battery. So you can huddle around the LEDs to keep warm. On the bus.
Always have a spare phone battery.
Alcoholics Anonymous?
TIL. USA's version is AAA.
Fact: All three A's stand for "America"
