I promise this isn't an ad. I did this in Excel for 2023.

Thia chart is brought to you by the colorblind awareness gang

If you can see the ๐Ÿ† in the picture then you're not colourblind.

I hope you have more green dots in 2025.

I used to use an app to track my moods and how my days went. It always lowered my mood to do the tracking, so I quit.

I think this is super important to highlight. When it comes to mental health: Not everything works for everyone (Actually I'd be genuinely surprised if that was true anywhere ๐Ÿ˜„).

No-one should ever feel bad or disheartened because something that others found success in doesn't work for them. There will be something that does work. It just might take a little longer to find it.

This app wants you to buy premium but is still functional as a free user. I use it too and it works.

I may just do one in a notebook.

Analog life...

[โ€“] Mac@mander.xyz 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You could buy a calendar and some colored markers, note your mood twice or three times per day (continuing with the analog theme: at sunrise, noon, sunset), and pen-in any anomalous activities or reasons for mood changes.

You just couldn't pull any data from your results later, which is the part i like.

[โ€“] vext01@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah neat idea.

I'm OK with no data. I'm a programmer by trade and as I progress in life, the more I feel like doing things in offline ways. I enjoy the tactility of pen and paper for example.

What sort of criteria did you use to classify amazing days / awful days? Today I lost my keys would that be awful enough or today I had ice cream would that be amazing?

Would you lean more on extremes?

Seems like interesting stuff nonetheless.

You're asking more about what sort of things put this particular human in a good or bad mood. Not that those wouldn't be interesting to track, but they're kind of besides the point here.

This chart seems more about the overall sentiment about the day.

You're doing pretty well, OP!

It's Dailyo. I've been using it for 5 years with the free version and it does what it should. It's very good for me to track my state. But then I'm also doing it out of routine now.

[โ€“] Tagger@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Thanks, I've downloaded it. I'll see if it fits into my routine or I drop it. Have a lovely year!

I also use Daylio.
Are you a premium user?

[โ€“] Monzcarro 2 points 1 week ago

I paid for premium a while ago. I changed the "moods" to "headaches" and I wanted to add more than one entry a day. I used the free version for a ages first and felt the app had proven it was worth paying for. I don't use a lot of the features though.

[โ€“] NickwithaC@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Nah, the free version does enough for me, I don't need pdf export or more icons. I literally just track my mood and a few other things about my day and it does that just fine.

[โ€“] Mac@mander.xyz 1 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, same. Thanks, i was just curious.

[โ€“] Opisek@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Nice! I personally use the app Pixels for the same purpose.

[โ€“] Monzcarro 1 points 1 week ago

My dots aren't dotting how I'd like as I make at least 2 entries a day (so it does an average), but here's my totals with moods changed to headaches (I used to use it to track fatigue but needed to switch to headaches).

I wish you many more green dots for 2025!
