These things are every bit as awesome as I have been told. I am now an air fryer evangelist. It's so easy too, just pre heat, pop it in, set the timer and go back to watching tv while waiting for it to do its thing.

Got one as well for Christmas, didn't ask for it or want one but according to my folks it was sooooo on sale that it was kind of a 'why not?' thing. I am finding a decent amount more use than I'd thought, if anything it's fast as hell, and I'm sure uses less power than an oven and the air fry mode does make a difference. Also mine has a dehydrator which rocks for my fresh herbs when they start wilting

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago

yeah mine has all sorts of functions including broil, bake, dehydrate and fry. And yes it is fast as fuck

[–] 9to5@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago

Damn that sounds sick as hell

been air frying 4 years and i assure you the preheating is almost never necessary.

I use mine for everything, i love it. Tofu with a little sesame oil and corn starch. Asparagus with garlic oil. cheesy Texas toast. leftovers. it all goes in there.

I'm enjoying it too. Brussel sprouts do rule. Gonna go put feed mode tomorrow with stuff from work and eat so much battered food

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 7 points 1 day ago

lol yeah I am gonna be eating so much battered food now that I never could in the microwave. Also spring rolls.

Currently making burritos that I'm finishing off in em for crispiness.

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago

Yeah my next two experiments are going to be frozen chimichangas and spring rolls

Folks. It is perfect for burritos! Wrap em tight and for this I rubbed em with just a tiny bit of oil. Got taquito on the outside burrito on the inside. I was skeptical but this does change things.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago

tempura

Another commenter:

How does the tempura work in the air fryer? I ask only because that's a very very watery batter.

Uh, I'm sorry for suggesting the idea... you think you can easily clean that up

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago

Easily? No because I don't have a kitchen. Still better than microwave? ABSOLUTELY.

[–] anarchoilluminati@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How, please, and thank you.

I just put the baking pan underneath the fryer cage.

[–] anarchoilluminati@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I meant is there a recipe you used for vegetable tempura?

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

oh no I just got it from the freezer aisle at work. I don't have a kitchen that's why I am so stoked on this thing. My friend and I been sharing a microwave till now

[–] anarchoilluminati@hexbear.net 2 points 22 hours ago

Ohh, cool! I don't have a full kitchen either but I do also have an airfryer so this is great to know. I'll pick some of those up.

Thank you!
