Guess who's back?

Back again?

Bannon's back, Bannon's back, Bannon's back...

Except for their own immigration, or that of their parents, grandparents etc.

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago

Love talking about it, hate seeing it.

[–] FiskFisk33@startrek.website 8 points 8 hours ago

rich people don't immigrate, they expatriate

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 8 points 11 hours ago

Only when the immigrants are not white.

[–] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 22 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

The far right alliance is already struggling, and they haven't even made it into office yet. lol

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world 15 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

If we pay attention to the infighting and all the circus we will hope the explode and not pay attention to what they are actually doing. Fucking over the common people and taking more than they should with a pen rather than a sword.

[–] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 3 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

Oh please. Their climate policies alone will fuck over the entire globe. I don't give a fuck anymore because this species is clearly fucking lost.

[–] StupidBrotherInLaw@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago

User name absolutely checks out.

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I mean that's just throwing your hands up and giving up. Does it suck? Yes. Is it what we wanted? No. But does giving up do ANYTHING?

[–] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 1 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Maybe not what you and me wanted, but certainly the majority of humans on this planet. And what am I supposed to do aside from the things I've already been doing? I'm already poor, so my emissions are a fraction of that of the average person, and I vote for green candidates & parties, who have no to barely any chance to achieve anything.

We were on our way to 3 degrees Celsius globally BEFORE all this already, which would be already devastating, so how the hell is the world now supposed to not just do better than that, but also compensate for all of the US emissions on top of that?

No one wants to do anything, at least not enough, not what would be needed - because that would ultimately affect everyone.

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)
[–] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Not possible and I fail to see how that's going to help.

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

You seem like a devoted environmentalist, and someone who understands that poverty is a hard trap to shake your leg out of. I support strong social safety nets like basic income so no one is put in your position.

But let's get real. It's not possible due to your location or finances? How would it help? You could stand with the rest of us when the shitstorm finally comes to our doors and fight.

But for now, especially if you don't have regular work, look into local mutual aid. You don't have to pay any money to join, or even start something. You just have to show up and help your community. If you start by picking up litter, someone is going to stop and say thank you. You can turn that moment into something different. Pressure them and say hey could you help me do this on Saturday? If you get then in then your can become friends. They will be abhorrent of your poverty and maybe try to help. Just roll the snowball. It's easier said than done I know.

[–] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

It's not possible due to your location or finances?

Both.

You could stand with the rest of us when the shitstorm finally comes to our doors and fight.

Stand with whom? And do what? The majority of people don't want to have climate policies, since they'd directly affect their own personal comfort. What makes you think they'd suddenly play revoluzer? And what shitstorm do you mean? Most of the severe consequences will be way off in the future and by the time things get worse, people will align more and more with the people who promise empty shit and to deal with all the climate refugees at the borders. You'd be made an example at that point. And honestly, if you were this determined, why not do something extremistic now? If you truly believe in some sort of armed insurgence in the future, why not go and blow up some fossil fuel & high emission shit? Why wait for when things become more and more inevitable?

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I stand behind my anonymity and my gauged responses. I don't know where you are but if the fascists come biting at my door they'll find plenty of lead.

I would never do extremist things, those things are morally wrong.

I just think that when we got fascism latching on to western governments it might be a more pressing concern than climate change. Not because climate change isn't the main fucking problem, but because they will ignore it.

Drill baby drill!

[–] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I just think that when we got fascism latching on to western governments it might be a more pressing concern than climate change. Not because climate change isn't the main fucking problem, but because they will ignore it.

Again, by that metric you should already act now, because the world is collectively ignoring it.

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Either you didn't read my comment or you didn't get the message.

[–] orcrist@lemm.ee 49 points 16 hours ago (3 children)

We should never have visas tied to employment. It's too abuse-prone. Give people 5-year visas, and after that, citizenship.

Many employers will fuck with imported labor if given the chance. This hurts honest employers and destroys lives.

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 2 points 53 minutes ago

Many employers will fuck with imported labor if given the chance.

That was why the H1-B program was designed the way it is.

[–] spongebue@lemmy.world 35 points 15 hours ago

Untie healthcare from employment first, please

[–] LaunchesKayaks@lemmy.world 12 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I work at an MSP and we have a user that gets stuck in his native country for a few months every few years when his visa expires. Getting him set up remotely to work in situations like that is nearly impossible. I'm just waiting for the day he tells us that he's stuck there for good. Poor guy just wants to do his job

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.world -3 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

Meanwhile he's just kicking it, getting paid in Pakistan like oops I can't get a connection again. Let's try tomorrow.

I'm just kidding. Nothing against Pakistanis but everything against corporations. What the fuck is an MSP? You're just going to drop that like we should know what it is?

You launch kayaks. Rich and white confirmed. Hahaha holy shit. 1 2 3 4.

What, I mean Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven.

[–] LandedGentry@lemmy.zip 120 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (3 children)

MAGA is not imploding give me a break. This is exactly what 2016 to 2020 was like. Absolute children causing chaos and suffering with their petty bullshit and planet sized egos. The Trump administration was a revolving door.

Nobody proves how inept the government can be quite like a republican.

[–] Rozz@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 12 hours ago

I'll believe it when I see it, but it's a tiny bit of silver lining. Won't make a measurable difference though.

[–] ATDA@lemmy.world 12 points 16 hours ago

Imploding, infinitely into itself, sucking in and destroying anything around it. A political black hole.

[–] __nobodynowhere@startrek.website 1 points 10 hours ago

They are going to fall in line.

[–] TootSweet@lemmy.world 129 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

It's almost like a club full of insufferable hate-filled assholes can't get along.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 70 points 19 hours ago

They'll still manage to loot the Treasury to the tune of a few trillion and get Democrats begging them for their votes in another two years.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 15 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Heck, not even two of them (Marj and Bobo the Qbert) seem to be able to get along - when it comes to being the Queen Qaren, there can only be one!

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

The difference is obvious once you take a closer look. One of them looks like a librarian with guns, the other looks like a thawed genetic missing link.

Fuck that shit they are the fucking same.

[–] SpiceDealer@lemmy.world 8 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago) (2 children)

I'm really enjoying this right wing implosion. This is one I'm going to tell my grandkids about.

[–] WrenFeathers@lemmy.world 13 points 10 hours ago

They’re not imploding. As much as I wish it were true, it’s just journalistic sensationalism.

[–] BugKilla@lemmy.world 15 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

You won't have to tell them about it because the full rectal prolapse that will become the US as a result of their infighting will negatively affect Americans for generations. You folks are in for one hell of an iron fisting by ultra conservative forces taking turns, one upping each others gape game.

[–] SpiceDealer@lemmy.world 6 points 12 hours ago

I like your descriptive writing style!

[–] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 60 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

If Bannon hates Musk so much, he should walk right up to him, and punch him in the nose.

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

Is he still allowed on government property or did the pardon fix that too?

[–] takeda@lemm.ee 25 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

Their success was that they combined their forces to win the election, but each of those grifters have different goals and many of them are incompatible.

I definitively don't support whatever Banon is after, but I welcome the infighting.

They will still inflict damage to the US, but hopefully the infighting will make it much harder to consolidate their power and turn US into fascist state.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 25 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

This is another "argument" that would be easily settled if things were even half as bad as the broligarchs claim (which it isn't). All they have to do - let people PERMANENTLY migrate here from countries like India if they have certain skills. Without being the least BIT beholden to a company when they migrate, too.

Are they proposing that? Fuck no, they aren't. They want indentured servants at the beck and call of corporate rule, and they want them there as as threat and leverage to lower the salaries of American citizens.

Also, for the nationalist xtians (the NatCs), I'm sure their head just about wants to explode when we are talking about more brown people here, because, at least in the Mexican or South/Central American immigrant case, chances are pretty good they will be brown, yes, but quite possibly xtian and even conservative. In the case of Indians, what are the chances they'll be xtian?

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

You give them too much credit. I'd say it goes on a scale like:

Hates brown people - can't distinguish between a Honduran and an Indian

Hates brown people - Indians are fine they can't ruin our country like Hondurans

Hates brown people - We can make mad money off Indians and Hondurans by structuring laws that make them insecure!

[–] WatDabney@fedia.io 13 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

It's like they have an asshole purity test, and Musk is too much of an opportunistic asshole and not enough of a racist asshole to meet their standards.

[–] LandedGentry@lemmy.zip 19 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago)

Musk is absolutely a colossally racist asshole who completely meets their standards. His companies have had to settle racial discrimination cases multiple times. He’s a bigot of the highest order who can’t even get past his politics to love and accept his own daughter. Even Cheney did that when his daughter came out.

[–] ajoebyanyothername@lemmy.world 11 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Imagine being the wrong kind of asshole and being told you're no longer welcome at the asshole club.

[–] Gsus4@mander.xyz 8 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

Sometimes I fantasize about a justice system where instead of equality before the law people get as punishment what they advocate be done to others...elon would get deported and his assets nationalized...silver lining of the new MAGAistan.

[–] RamblingPanda@lemmynsfw.com 5 points 18 hours ago

Let the games begin.
