Still not quite sure India has any business being a member of Brics while simultaneously posing the most obvious conflict of interest due to their alignment with western capital. Maybe once the Indian Left actually takes power or overthrows the existing reactionary government, but until then the government simply does not fit in at all with the rest of the emerging multi polar movement and should not be trusted at all.
World News
It does look like relations between India and the west are starting to fray. India sees itself as being sovereign and equal, but US wants it to act as a good vassal. This is ultimately pushing India to look towards the global south instead.
I don't quite see it that way, it seems more that they're trying to play the west and Brics against each other for their own benefit, like how they get to freely sell Russian oil to the US by having a foot in each camp. Modi's stupid speech at last years Brics summit where he was yapping about working more closely with g20 just goes to show that they don't really care about committing to a new system. And of all the countries currently part of it, they do technically have the least to gain from it. Frankly the India we have today is the weakest link in Brics, and I'm certain that when push comes to shove they'll side against it to favor the status quo, because there is no ideological alignment at all.
I definitely think that India is the weakest link in BRICS, but my expectation is that US will continue to try and play hardball with them which will ultimately leave India with no choice by to align with BRICS. US is simply unable to compromise or to treat other countries with respect. We'll have to see what happens though.
New International just dropped?
let's not get ahead of ourselves, but definitely a very promising development :)
I really want to see the CPC exercising their soft power like this more. It's become extremely difficult to ignore the success that the CPC has had in building socialism. Maybe through delegation, they could even convince some trot parties to give up their reactionary perspectives on AES. I won't hold my breath on that one though 😂
Personally, I've just written the west off at this point. The focus now has to be on the global majority.
I agree that those who are most oppressed possess the most revolutionary potential. The chain of imperialism will most likely break wherever the weakest link is, causing the entire system to collapse. But it would be really nice if we could raise the level of class consciousness in the imperial core before this happens. I would like it if we could avoid falling into fascist decay, but perhaps this is inevitable.
Very much agree, whatever we can do to educate people is worth doing. I'm just managing my expectations for what's realistically possible.
Indeed. Visa free travel is great, but so many westerners, especially USAians don't even possess a passport. Realistically, most people here aren't going to be able to see for themselves what socialism can produce. Up until now, the CPC has avoided exporting propaganda. There's so much untapped potential to raise awareness, but the CPC is nothing if not pragmatic.
Indeed, and CPC might've made a calculation that the west isn't that important in the grand scheme of things. Focusing on nations that aren't already hostile to China is probably more practical. China can make it easy for westerners to come to China, but realistically only a tiny percentage of westerners are likely to actually go there. A lot of people in the west are so terrified by the propaganda that's been whipped up here that they think China might arrest them arbitrarily if they set a foot there. It's just not possible for China to compete with domestic brainwashing that's happening. On the other hand, countries that are politically friendly towards China don't have this problem.
I really hope China's effort in not at least trying to combat western propaganda doesn't end up biting them in the ass. I'm sure the CPC mostly knows what it's doing, but I've got a bad feeling.
My opinion is that the west will be the last to become socialist, but communists in the west need to focus a lot on helping communists in the global south so they can liberate themselves, and work on raising class consciousness in the west.
Today, the party [All-India Forward Front] is a constituent in the Left Front, an electoral alliance whose other national members at present are the Communist Party of India (Marxist), the Communist Party of India, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation and the Revolutionary Socialist Party.
That's a lot of splinters. India is a large and diverse country so maybe it's not as bad as it sounds. It is nice to see they've organized a united front between them!
It's like a fraction of UK "communist" splinters lol
UK or really any western "communist" parties are completely irrelevant though lol. I suppose this could be the case for these parties in India as well, but they're at least relevant enough for the CPC to engage with them.
No totally Western communist parties are a farce. I just took an opportunity to take a cheap potshot at the local commies, didn't mean to suggest they are in any way comparable to communist movements in the Global South. Communists in India organise some of the largest protests and strikes in the world. Plus, Kerala.
Yeah I didn't think you were serious. I was just joining in on taking potshots 😅
From my understanding, the Communist Party of India has been power in Kerala for a while now, and that likely makes them the most successful of the parties.
That's the Communist Party of india (ML), it also was in power in Bengal until the Communist Part of India (Maoist) showed its hand and helped the hindutva fascists killing off candidates of the party and taking over. Only to get rekt by the fascists next, lul.
Lousy ultras 😔
