I'll still play it, the best part about dark souls is how it is basically a universe defined by dementia. Everything repeats.

why can't gamers be normal about something for once

You know how in ever shitty anime there is a game that everyone plays and it sucks but it is just a given that it is part of life? Fromsoft bout to put us on a new timeline

I’ve never played an Elden Ring game before in my life

[–] grandepequeno@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Really you've never played any games of the elden ring franchise? Not a single one?

I see them as they being like "we made the hugest world ever, made a bunch of assets, made bank, but gotta find a way to reuse this at least once"

[–] TheDrink@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago

Reusing stuff is a gaming tradition going back to the first ever games and its present in just as many great games as bad ones. Like Symphony of the Night has a whole thing where you play through the game again bUt It'S uPsIdE-dOwN!

Can you explain why reusing assets is bad?

[–] grandepequeno@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago

I don't think it's bad at all, I probably don't notice it when it happens.

A great example of good asset reuse are the 7 SMT games atlus made for the PS2 which all reused demon assets

Man am I glad that even in my ever more bitter and pessimistic ways I was able to enjoy the fantastic Elden Ring and it's DLC. Not so sure about this one though, I always liked that these games weren't grinding games and you were basically done after fighting every boss once (dark souls 2 letting you respawn bosses was already too much if you ask me), but it might be fun with friends

oh, more girmdark dodgeroll?

wow how creative, i will surely play this

[–] Bureaucrat@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago

Here's the defence: It's a fun game and I like it. I like what they did last time, so I believe I'll enjoy what they do this time. I don't mind reused assets if the game itself is good. I am not a single-issue gamer. There is nothing to defend yet though, since there is nothing to play.

It's just a spinoff. Unless they are planning to charge 70 bucks for this, it's fine.

Kinda sad that the side project is a battleroyale + roguelike game, their last side project is the masterpiece called Sekiro...

[–] peppersky@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Sekiro wasn't a side project, considering it was directed by Miyazaki and a full price release which this isn't and won't be

[–] ZeroHora@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 week ago

At that time they were already working on the Elden Ring no? They even chose Actvision to publish the game to have more funds no?
